General duties and job responsibilities : Health and safety : - Ensure safety measures are consistently and strictly followed and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety as a culture so as to achieve zero accident level - Ensure all statutory, legal and procedural requirements on safety are consistently complied with Strategy : - Initiate and develop a strategic plan for Operations that takes the company into the future - Build an organization of excellence which is embedded in the company's Mission, Vision and focus values - Participate as a member of the company's leadership team in key business decisions - Actively involve with other departments in the quest for winning new business - Provide leadership and direction to all plants for effective and efficient operations that generate profit - Develop short-term as well as long-term plans to ensure availability of resources for business continuity - Develop, monitor and control the Operations budget down to plant level - Build manufacturing strength by way of introducing best practices with a strong focus on LEAN systems Operations : - Align all plant activities and employees with the business goals, Vision and focus values - Define and drive initiatives that secure the company's success and ongoing turnaround activities - Create a highly profitable organization with robust processes - Establish an efficient and effective review mechanism - Oversee the performance of all plants and ensure that they meet their set goals before time - Continuously interact with plants and oversee resolution of constraints, if any - Ensure "delivery" that creates happy customer - Build strong relations and communication with internal and external customers Team management : - Develop and build a culture of excellence - Help build a learning organization that strives to continuously improve - Mentor and provide leadership and guidance to the team, thereby developing a strong and competent team - Conduct effective performance appraisals for the team and provide training and development opportunities - Motivate, counsel and coach employees to ensure a conducive working environment to achieve set objectives - Ensure succession planning for critical roles in the team - Create an environment that fosters innovation and excellence in all aspects inspired by the company Vision and values Employee relations : - Encourage progressive HR policies and practices across plants by working closely with the HR &amp; IR leadership in the organization - Provide support to the IR team in employee welfare and engagement activities and for effective resolution of a possible or existing conflict - Drive employee engagement across all cadres in the plants - Participate in Union settlements and drive the discussion with the benefit of the overall organization in mind Education and experience : - B.Tech. in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical or other relevant engineering, M.Tech and MBA an added advantage - Industrial experience between 25-30 years, preferably in automotive industry Required knowledge and skills : - Ability to manage multiple manufacturing sites across the country with a workforce of more than 1,000 members incl. industry regulations and guidelines - A leader whom people will follow - Strong at change management with a mindset of continuous improvement - Resourceful creativeness that leads to innovation - Working knowledge in P&amp;L, budgeting, material and production planning, project management - Very comfortable with LEAN manufacturing processes, expectations and culture in the automotive industry - Hands-on work experience with ERP systems - Conceptual knowledge in devising a digital strategy and implementing the same (e.g. Industry 4.0) - Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) - Balanced in management and leadership - Languages: Excellent command of English and Hindi. Understanding of Tamil an added advantage
