Chief Operating Officer - Plastic Manufacturing Group (12-22 yrs)

Our client is a leading plastic manufacturing group having operations across Kenya, Uganda and Madagascar.

- The COO will have full group-level responsibilities for production. This includes production of blow, injection, and thermoformed products across multiple manufacturing sites in Kenya, Uganda, and Madagascar.

- Managing the bulk of Group's workforce. This will involve elements of materials management, production, quality, safety, maintenance, and logistics.

- Establish targets to improve internal and external processes and operational infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency. COO will also develop measurement and reporting to explain performance outcomes.

- Manage the Group's operations prudently to ensure healthy financial position and cash flows based on annual targets.

The COO will foster a corporate culture that promotes high customer service standards, ethical practices and good corporate citizenship.

- The COO will be an integral member of the management team and will actively engage in matters of strategy and innovation. The COO will contribute to Board reporting and present to Group's board as required.

Experience:

- This individual has 10+ years of professional experience and has served in a senior role for a manufacturing business for 5+ years.

- Ideally, a significant amount of this experience is in East Africa; the candidate must have done significant work in the developing world.

- Special preference will be given to individuals with strong experience in the manufacture of plastic products or similar settings (i.e. those requiring high-volume highly-standardized approaches).

- This individual has been involved in the procurement of machinery and tooling and understands the basic process and procedure related to the sourcing, acquisition, importation, installation, and maintenance of such equipment.

- This individual has a proven track-record building and managing teams across multiple geographies. He is quantitative and precise; he has worked with a modern enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and understands how to develop and measure against targets.
