Chief Financial Officer for Sugar Industry
- The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the company. Reporting directly to the Board, Chairperson, and Managing Director, the CFO plays a pivotal role in the company's strategic decision-making process.
- The CFO's primary responsibility is to prepare comprehensive financial reports, review and maintain internal financial controls, mitigate financial risks, enhance the accuracy of financial results, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities :
Management :
- Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage and oversee outsourced functions such as audits, compliance, and other financial activities.
- Supervise the accounting department's operations, adapt the organizational structure to accommodate company growth as needed.
- Assume overall responsibility for control systems, transaction-processing operations, and procurement policies and procedures of the company and its subsidiary/affiliate companies/joint ventures.
Transactions :
- Strategically manage cashflow to optimize accounts payable and working capital cycles.
- Ensure timely capture of all available discounts on accounts payable, including bill discounting.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing departments to expedite accounts receivable collection and reconciliation.
- Oversee periodic bank reconciliations and ensure timely debt payments.
- Maintain and update the chart of accounts.
- Organize and manage an orderly accounting filing system.
- Establish and maintain robust controls over accounting transactions.
Reporting :
- Prepare and issue accurate and timely financial statements, including Profit and Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
- Coordinate with other departments to produce the corporate annual report.
- Recommend industry benchmarks and perform periodic competitive analysis.
- Calculate and communicate financial and operating metrics.
- Lead the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Provide financial analyses for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Compliance :
- Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Monitor debt levels and adherence to debt covenants.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and government reporting requirements and handle tax filings.
Other Responsibilities :
- Ensure timely filing of all financial and secretarial returns, including TDS, Service Tax, Income Tax returns/filings, and Annual returns for the company.
- Manage the compilation of audited accounts for Board meetings and Annual General Meetings (AGMs) in collaboration with Company Secretaries.
- Optimize surplus cash and investments in accordance with board-approved instruments.
- Provide guidance to the marketing and sales teams on Forex matters, including forward cover strategies for imports and exports.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director and other executives to engage with investment bankers, mutual funds, and fund managers to explore investment opportunities and acquisitions.
- Interact with external institutions, including Banks, Chamber of Commerce, and RBI, representing the company when necessary.
- Regularly update the management on market trends and exchange rates.
Required Minimum Qualification :
- Bachelor's/Master's in Accounting and CA, Final qualified with at least 10-15 years of experience in a Auditing, finance and planning, final accounting, financial analysis, data integrity maintenance and systems in an MNC.
- Familiar with audit process and audit report. Proficient in financial regulations, tax laws and financial workflow.
- Rich financial analysis skills and data mining skills.
- Experience working on a P&L, core financial planning experience.
- Capable of managing multiple time sensitive priorities simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented organized in approach and in document maintenance.
- Ability to function well in a team environment.
- Exceptional communication skills. Proficiency in English language.
