Our client is a leading Chennai headquartered NBFC that has pioneered an innovative lending model centered around the education sector, providing business loans to educational institutions and student loan to parents of children. The Company has operations in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana with 200+ staff. The Company has till date, disbursed 1800+ school loans and 20000+ student loans aggregating Rs 195 crores. The Company recently raised Rs 55 crores of equity Capital following a Series A capital raise of Rs. 21 crores in 2017.

Job requirement : Our client is looking to hire a CFO to handle the following :

1. Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Business Planning and Reporting/MIS

2. Treasury (Debt raise, Credit Rating, Cash Management)

3. Secretarial

4. Risk and Compliances / Internal Audit etc.

- This is a head office position reporting into the Management (Could be to either of the Co-Founders) and would require extensive interactions with the Board, Investors and other critical stakeholders.

Job Description :


The CFO will be a trusted advisor to the Management and the Business, providing timely, relevant council and inputs regarding strategic and operating decisions and assist Management in Shareholder/Board interactions. The Job Responsibilities include :

A. Developing a strategic and operational roadmap to grow the business towards an ROE of 15%+ with a loan book of INR 900 Cr by March 2022

B. Building a strong motivated team that provides seamless proactive, business partnering support to the management and the Business

C. Building a low-cost liability franchise through various routes and instruments aligned to plan

D. Developing and leveraging relationships with regulators, credit agencies, other financial institutions, consultants and other professionals to deliver best in class value, aligned to the business plan.

E. Evaluate and monitor risks, upgrade Controls/IFCs regarding the operations of the Company on an ongoing basis, factoring statutory/RBI regulations and inputs from auditors

F. Managing Credit rating, top line and bottom line per the guidance of the Management

The Successful Candidate :

a) The candidate should be a qualified CA with 12-20+ years of post-qualification experience, with the last 5 years in functional leadership capacity.

b) Candidate should compulsorily bring expertise in job requirement 1. In addition, he should have expertise in any two of job requirement 2, 3 and 4. Please refer to the Job requirements specified earlier.

c) Candidates should have experience in Indian lending operations for a large NBFC/Bank (or) large Manufacturing/Services businesses with expertise in job requirement 2, 3 and 4. Please refer to the Job requirements specified earlier.

d) Candidates should bring :

- Deep knowledge of Indian accounting, taxation and statutory laws

- Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset

- Leadership skills and an impeccable integrity
