Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Service Industry ONLY

Job Role Title : Chief Financial Officer

Reports : Chairman & Managing Director

- The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing professional financial support and advisory to the Business Head and CMD to assist in meeting the strategic financial goals of the organization and improving the efficiency of the businesses.

- He / she will scrutinize the financial statements of the organization and report on their financial positions, to support the managements to make informed operational, financial and marketing decisions.

- He/ she will manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting.

- He/she will have to identify opportunities and implement procedures for improved profitability and assist and advise where necessary in operations, maintain control over the assets, liabilities, income and expenditure and provide management, leadership and accountability for the financial performance of the business.

1. Business Strategy & Profitability :

- Plans financial audits by understanding organization objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls and external regulations

- Ensure that procedures, policies, legislation and regulations are correctly followed and complied with

- Create, implement, monitor and ensure compliance to Foodlink Financial Policies and Procedures, and report known non-compliance to the Business Head and CMD and take action to address them

- Understand the meaning and implications of key internal and external financial indicators; manage overall financial performance and use sound financial analysis to evaluate strategic investment options

- Support in obtaining funding for various initiatives

- Prepare and submit reports and analysis that are concise, comprehensive, accurate and timely

- Co-ordinate and submit financial projections as required by the Business Head and CMD

- Monitor business results sharply and provide clear and informed analysis to meet Business requirements

- Present and explain variances in financial objectives to the Business Head and CMD in a clear and concise manner with recommendations for future corrective action

- Evaluate the impact of business decisions where necessary

- Liaise with the Business Head, CMD and other Business Heads regarding potential opportunities and threats so as to be proactive in addressing changes in the Business environment.

- Play a strategic role in developing long and short term business strategies to achieve targeted growth and maximize operating returns and performance

2. Operations Management :

- Maintain detailed knowledge of the Business products and services

- Plan and direct the functions of administration and planning of the Finance Department to meet the daily needs of operation

- Evaluate manual and automated financial processes

- Timely and regular reporting of accurate and reliable financial data

- Identifying process weaknesses, inefficiencies and operational issues

- Identify risk areas and accordingly prepare audit scope and objectives

- Assess compliance with accepted accounting principles, financial regulations and controls, contractual and legal obligations and relevant regulatory entities by executing audit program steps; testing general ledger, account balances, balance sheets, income statements, and related financial statements; examining and analyzing records, reports and documentation

- Assess risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non-compliance

- Identify ways to improve processes for finding and eliminating waste and fraud

- Verify assets and liabilities by comparing and analyzing items and collateral to documentation

- Complete audit work papers and memoranda by documenting audit tests and findings

- Communicate audit progress and findings by providing information in status meetings; highlighting unresolved issues; preparing commentaries and final audit statements and reports

- Improve protection by recommending changes in management monitoring, assessment, and motivational practices, in the internal control structure and in operating processes after identifying root causes

- Provide financial control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends

- Protect organization's reputation by keeping information confidential

- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations

3. Guest Satisfaction and Client Relationship Management :

- Add value through process improvement; by understanding and focusing on the key drivers of sales, associate and customer satisfaction, profitability, and quality

- Support external auditors by coordinating information requirements

- Respond to business-related requests by the CMD, Business Head, Department Heads, fellow associates and guests in an efficient, professional and timely manner

- Anticipate and address finance related issues by the guests and associates and establish proactive processes to promote guest satisfaction

- Develop strong networks, establish rapport and maintain cordial relationship with vendors to create positive & professional relationships

- Support creation and implementation of best practices to ensure improvement in efficiency, productivity and profitability

4. People Management :

- Ensure that the team members understand their respective Job Descriptions, goals and SOPs

- Train, develop and build capability of the team in technical, operational, administrative and managerial abilities

- Monitor team performance and conduct formal evaluations during appraisals, with ongoing feedback and coaching

- Conduct regular team meetings to keep all associates informed of ongoing business

- Keep the team engaged, challenged and motivated

- Control attrition

Education : Chartered Accountancy Degree

Experience : Minimum 15 years experience in a similar domain, of which minimum five years should be in managerial position, preferably in Finance Departments of Restaurants / Banquets / Catering operations, Hotels and Cruise

Additional Skill desired : Strong IT skills

- Ability to guide group processes toward goal accomplishment e.g. meeting management, consensus problem solving, etc.

- Continually learn and share best practices for continuous improvement

- High level of commitment and personal integrity - honesty, reliability, ethics, and professionalism

- Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency

- Emotionally stabile with an ability to remain calm, confident and dependable during crisis

- Ability to empower, motivate and inspire others and work effectively in a team environment.
