About Accelerate Indian Philanthropy (AIP)

- AIP aims to be India's leading organization for spurring private philanthropy to meet India's development challenges.

- India has seen a rapid rise in average wealth over the last decade, but strategic philanthropic giving lags far behind in comparison. The majority of philanthropists still face significant headwinds when giving strategically, such as giving towards the end of their life, giving being a small portion of their total wealth, and difficulty in finding trusted philanthropic advisors to help them navigate sectors and organizations. Right now India is going through a transition similar to the United States in the late 19th/early 20th century which saw tremendous wealth creation.

- AIP will work with philanthropists to give more, give sooner, and give better. AIP aims to educate and enable philanthropic capital in India, and from Indians around the world, in order to significantly improve the quantum and quality of giving. We aim to build an organization that contributes to development in India at a large scale, and fundamentally transforms the giving landscape.

Position Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to build a world class organization that focuses on unlocking philanthropic capital in a more strategic manner.

- S/he will shape the strategic direction of the organization, including its values, mission, vision, and overall strategy.

- In the early stages, the Founders will play an active role in fundraising and facilitating connections in conjunctions with the CEO. The CEO will be responsible for channel outreach, new partnerships, building and running the organization, the budget, ensuring high-quality research products are created, and managing a high-performing team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the CEO include:

- Shape the giving landscape in India by advising philanthropists on their giving strategy; supporting them with high quality knowledge products, and creating a network

- Develop the organization's advisory, communications, and research capabilities.

- Work with the Founders to refine and implement the strategic plan.

- Work with the Founders to build/leverage the organization's Advisory Board.

- Instill an entrepreneurial culture and mindset for the organization and take an iterative approach to advising on strategic philanthropy.

- Build and lead the leadership team.

- Manage the organization's finances and allocate resources appropriately.

- Identify and partner with philanthropists, wealth managers, foundations, and other organizations to achieve strategic priorities.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

- Strong relationship skills and the ability to build deep engagement with senior leaders

- Highly motivated and able to inspire team members to work towards goals and targets, and take ownership of the organization and mission

- Entrepreneurial self-starter who is a hands-on leader and passionate about strategic giving, and solving social problems

- High ability to collaborate and actively listen to others, understanding and valuing others' views.

- Operating style suited to working in a small-organization setting, where teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued.

- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at a time

- Adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances and needs of the role, including flexibility in working hours/travel to ensure coordination with philanthropists in different locations and time zones.

- Experience in strategic and operational excellence; has managed and led teams to achieve strong results
