POSITION VACANT: Chief Executive Officer, Confidential (Reputed Non-Profit Organization), NCR

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Our client is a respected, non-profit, providing education to unprivileged children with no access to schooling, in economically and socially backward areas. Our client achieves this by providing access to high-quality, early education, in close collaboration with the local community and ensuring sustainability through parent engagement.

The scalable, delivery model developed by our client, has gained the respect of both donors and partners. The model emphasizes a common vision with the government on achieving universal primary education and transforming the lives of women, families and entire communities in India, through education and empowerment.

Our clients annual operations are around Rs. 25 crores. It has an influential Board and its Founding Members include eminent development sector and management professionals, with sound reputations and impeccable credentials. Our clients donors include large corporates, foundations and high networth and retail individuals.

JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Board, the CEO shall be responsible for steering the organization and help it evolve into a sustainable, front-tier non-profit in the area of primary education. The CEO will be hands-on in providing strategic leadership and have proven abilities in institution building, fund raising, credibility enhancement and developing, managing and fostering stakeholder relationships.

Key Job Responsibilities:

(1) Leadership and Programme Management:

(a) Overall responsibility for formulating and developing a high-quality portfolio of programs, with emphasis of scaling-up innovative approaches in different areas such as technology, social mobilisation, local institution building, architecture of partnerships, management techniques etc.;

(b) Developing and managing, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment activities for the organisations programmes;

(c) Developing and monitoring programme budgets;

(d) Taking leadership and responsibility for managing resources engaged for programmes, with emphasis on team development and capacity building activities, as well as contributing to an encouraging, positive, flexible and professional, working environment.

(2) Communication, Collaboration, and Partnership Development:

(a) Establishing and maintaining partnerships and constructive dialogues with stakeholders across the country, comprising Civil Society Organisations, State Governments, Private Sector and CSR Philanthropies, Donors, etc., with a view to enabling strategic collaborations to promote organisations work in primary education for young girls;

(b) Promote Local Institution Building and Strengthening SHGs, JFMCs, community-based organisations, etc.

(3) Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation:

(a) Directing resource mobilisation activities targeted at institutional, corporate and individual donors, to mobilise and ensure availability of funds for the different programmes and projects, supported by the organisation;

(b) Branding and positioning the organisation to effectively leverage the reach of its Board, and partners, to fund its projects and initiatives.

(4) Integration and Convergence:

(a) Working as a team player within the organisation to support other programmes and activities, promoting institutional goals and encouraging integration of ideas and disciplines within the organization and among partners;

(b) Providing support to projects, with a view to enabling convergence across various thematic areas of primary education in the region.

(5) Research, Policy Development, and Capacity Building:

(a) Providing intellectual leadership on identified research priorities;

(b) Maintaining an active dialogue with partners and policy makers and contribute to bridging the gaps between research, policy, and practice.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualification

Applicants should have a postgraduate degree in the Social Sciences and/or other relevant discipline.

Experience

(1) 10 years of progressively senior work experience in socio-development issues, with a strong orientation to the field of education;

(2) Five years of experience in a senior strategic leadership or management role, preferably in a multi-cultural environment;

(3) Demonstrated track record of promoting diversity and the ability to build collaboration with the community at large;

(4) Experience in Financial Management, covering P&L and funds management;

(5) Experience in developing partnerships, building teams and conflict management;

(6) Experience in resource mobilization and increasing philanthropic support;

(7) Demonstrated leadership and a track record of working with Government, Civil Society and Philanthropic organizations.

Skills and Competencies

(1) Deep rooted desire to work for lesser-privileged sections of society, along with genuine humility to listen to and learn from the communities that one seeks to serve;

(2) Sound understanding of theoretical frameworks in the Development and Education sectors with the ability to guide the organisation and constantly evaluate working models with a view to adopting and/or adapting them, as necessary;

(3) Demonstrated ability to assess the impact of the organisation on a continuous and comprehensive basis;

(4) Ability to manage and align multiple stakeholders and their expectations, including Donors, the Board, Staff and Partner NGOs;

(5) Comfort and willingness to travel extensively to remote locations and build lasting relationships;

(6) Strong orientation to the education sector, preferably at the primary school level. Additional exposure to other socio-development sectors shall be an advantage;

(7) Ability to build, lead and manage teams and NGO partners decisively;

(8) Ability to problem solve operational issues;

(9) Openness to technological change, with prior exposure to implementing technology-based solutions for operations;

(10) Able to understand and identify opportunities to work more extensively with the community;

(11) Strong networks within the development and education sectors to create new and effective partnerships;

(12) Experience of working with/ partnering with the Government;

(13) Ability to articulate and communicate the Theory of Change and Vision of the Organization.

COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross annual remuneration budgeted for the position is Rs. 30-36 lacs per annum. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
