Chief Data Architect - Azure

As the Chief Data Architect, you will focus on the continuous delivery of hybrid (cloud based and on-prim) infrastructure, data, and engineering application architectural solutions from strategy through implementation.

The candidate must have necessary technology, communication, and leadership skills to manage complex projects from start to finish.

The candidate will design, develop and ensure the efficient deployment of a standard, common data platform (from the ETL from sources, through data preparation and storage, to visualization and dashboards & applications) enabling Enterprise Business Intelligence and analytics across the global organization.

He/she will also participate in design, development, and enforcing standards and architecture for all data needs for BI within the organization.

This position will collaborate closely with other technology and business teams to establish data solutions for analysis, modeling, designing, and deployment within the organization.

The candidate will be required to build rapport and credibility with BI, software devOps and dataOps teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Provide architectural leadership for low code solutions, data architectures, data warehouse, and BI initiatives

- Design and develop data ingestion components and ETL solutions to collect data from various internal data sources, majorly engineering application databases

- Participate in strategic and tactical planning and design sessions and conduct "whiteboard" sessions with BI, dataOps, devOps and other application management teams

- Development and implementation of solutions for data storage, transformation, sharing and control to support enterprise wide global and holistic functional BI self-service enablement.

- Development of scalable, modular, and robust ETL routines, using ETL tools and external programming/scripting languages as necessary.

- Providing procedural and practice advice within ETL process, DWH process and data preparation/storage in general for the analytical community across the organization globally, and seek support from senior team members when the nature of the request has the potential for organization wide implications or significant impact on the overall architecture.

- Ensures data quality and controls are in place to support of various data ingestion inflows and outflows processes and also ensures data governance processes, security standards.

- Work with engineering organization to develop business requirements into architecture and integrate into existing data platform.

- Manage and use tools in the cloud data warehouse development and deployment such as ETL tools, data quality and cleansing tools, query/reporting tools, OLAP, data mining, etc.

- Administer the overall data warehouse strategy, architectures and security, definition of data models, all data marts, evaluation of infrastructure components, software, performance, and data applications design

- Review existing systems and ongoing engineering to ensure consistent alignment with the strategic architecture

- Communicate architectural concepts and patterns into clear, actionable engineering direction

- Address and proactively suggest improvement areas within work process

QUALIFICATION AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES :

- Graduate or master's degree in engineering or University equivalent, Computer Science/Information technology background is preferred

- 10+ years of experience architecting, designing, and developing large scale data solutions utilizing Relational database platforms like MS Sql server, Oracle etc.

- Significant experience with Cloud DWH technologies and complex data architecture and models

- Working knowledge of designing architectures for large volume real time data streams and component services

- Knowledge of and experience with Azure data services like Sql server database, Data warehouse, Azure data factory, Alteryx, data Visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, PowerApps, etc.

- Experience with scaling and improving a variety of vendor and open-source technologies

- Experienced in agile data and development engineering methods

- Solid understanding of a range of products/services used to enable enterprise business intelligence.

- Ability to see, and have in mind, the bigger picture when delivering on functional or operational data requirements for BI solutions.

- Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple activities and workload demands with minimal supervision.

- Good communications and listening skills are critical components of this job.

- Demonstrated expertise in various architecture and engineering disciplines

- Experience in creating business-enabling technology roadmaps
