Who are we? Centre for Urban Innovation (CUI) is a independent non-profit think and do tank based in New York and Mumbai. CUIs mission is to make urbanization in developing countries more vibrant, productive and sustainable for its residents, the economy and the environment. CUI will focus on a wide range of interventions - from fundamental innovation to applied research- to achieve these goals. CUI will combine forward thinking urban design and planning principles with new technology to help create people-centred neighbourhoods &amp; cities that achieve precedent setting levels of sustainability, affordability, mobility and economic opportunity. CUI will define innovation as the application of new or more effective solutions. In this context solutions would encompass products, services, processes, technologies, business models and policies that meet- new requirements, unarticulated needs and or existing needs of urban development. CUI's Innovation team will bring together designers, researchers, and strategists with backgrounds that span - urban design, planning, public policy, mobility, sustainability, governance, economics, community engagement, arts and culture and creative technology development. Team members will share a commitment to urban innovation while having diverse backgrounds and expertise. This work is ideal for someone who is passionate about the future of cities and wants to be part of a team focused on how innovation will shape that future. CUI is fully funded and sponsored for the first 3 years by the Lodha Group, thereafter it is intended that CUI will diversify its donor/sponsor base. During the inception years (0-3 years) the centres solutioning work will focus on the urban development needs of India, with focus on developments &gt; 10 million sft BUA / 100 acres - in 2018-19. In year-1 the centre will deep partner with its primary sponsor (the Lodha group) to implement innovations in its 4 identified developments - Palava city (4500 acre new township), Upper Thane Township (a 600 acre new township), Amara (a 120 acre development) and Lodha Belmondo (130 acre development). From Year 2 onwards, CUI will also consider working closely with urban governments in India who have a track record of impactful implementation and are forward looking. From year 4 onwards, CUI will evaluate expanding these services to urban governments globally. What is the role? - AT CUI we believe that a 21st century city should be one that offers and enables tremendous economic, social and cultural opportunities to its citizens in a environmentally sustainable manner. We know that developing effective planning strategies and design solutions in cities needs close collaboration and coordination between policy makers, public agencies, real estate developers, urban planning professionals, industry leaders, civil sector partners, community organizations and stakeholders. We believe in evidence based design and know that effective data analysis and insights can inform policy and programmatic solutions that create meaningful and long term impact for citizens.&nbsp; - The role of the Associate, data analyst, is to work with subject matter experts from across urban development sectors, and devise research to uncover insights that will help craft evidence based planning and design solutions in our cities. - We expect that you are adept at crafting data research, analysing data and presenting data insights across varied subject areas. As the data analysis lead you will work with a team of designers, researchers, subject matter experts, public and private stakeholders to identify gaps and prototyping service oriented solutions for urban residents on a variety of issues.&nbsp; - You will execute data analytics, performance measurements and data architecture in service of sharing information and producing insights for the urban development team to design solutions. What you need to be successful? The following experience is required for this position: - Demonstrated professional experience in data analysis, systems analysis, policy analysis and or related fields - Experience in collecting, analysing, synthesizing and communicating both quantitative and qualitative data, including performance measures - Knowledge of methods of research, cost benefit analysis, statistical analysis and financial modelling - Experience in data architecture, including assessing the structure of data systems to present data and information - Detail oriented and delivery focused approach and the ability to lead projects from scoping and planning to conducting, synthesizing and communicating insights - Strong critical thinking ability with the capacity to see the big picture and craft compelling data insight presentations that provide the foundation for designing impactful products, services and experiences - Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams which may include designers, engineers, policy makers, developers, business strategists etc; flexibility and openness to adapt data gathering and analysis methods to fit the needs of a multi-disciplinary team - Experience directing and managing vendors to deploy data studies to generate reliable research that is both effective and efficient - Strong verbal, written and visual presentation skills and experience articulating the value of data insights in informing the design and delivery of services - Strong curiosity with new tools, technologies and methods that push the learning in new directions, understand problems in new ways and inspire the design team and content, or complement depth of insight with scale Qualifications : Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in design research, public policy, urban planning or related field. Plus 4+ years professional experience working in data analysis, data research and performance measurement with a multi-disciplinary team to design, develop, implement and or evaluate the impact of innovative urban solutions and programs.
