CRVS Liaison Officer Job title : CRVS Liaison Officer Location : Mumbai, Maharashtra Years of experience : min 12 - max 25 Job description : - The Data for Health (D4H) Initiative is a multi-year initiative funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies in partnership with the Australian Government. - Implementing partners include the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the CDC Foundation, Vital Strategies, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the University of Melbourne, and the World Health Organization (WHO). - The D4H Initiative seeks to support governments in at least 25 countries and cities to improve the collection and use of crucial public health information. - D4H operates under the principles of country leadership and ownership, a commitment to capacity building, and a primary concern for sustainability. The Initiative focuses on strengthening three areas : (1) Civil registration and vital statistics systems (CRVS) (2) Strategic use of data for policy and planning and (3) Availability of information on non-communicable disease risk factors Objectives : - The CRVS Liaison Officer is required to support the successful implementation of technical assistance for CRVS improvement. - The main tasks and deliverables of the CRVS Liaison Officer will be related to liaising between the D4H core team members and country stakeholders. - Country stakeholders include government and non-government stakeholders throughout India. The CRVS Liaison Officer ensures collaboration and communication of CRVS activities that are country owned and driven, technically sound and sustainable as well as in line with current best practice standards. - The CRVS Liaison Officer will work under the supervision of the CDC Foundation Technical Advisor/Project Coordinator and collaborate with representatives in the Mumbai and Maharashtra teams The CRVS Liaison Officer will be a primary participant in both D4H Mumbai and D4H Maharashtra teams, maintaining regular communication with team members and team stakeholders to ensure consistency in strategy, implementation, and messaging across both teams. - The CRVS Liaison Officer will interface between government agencies, D4H Initiative partners, and other critical CRVS stakeholders in the country. Major tasks to be accomplished : - Maintain communication with D4H core team members on work planning and activity implementation, ensuring planned activities are being achieved, efforts are in line with D4H goals, and activities and outcomes are communicated among the D4H core team and stakeholders - Maintain regular communication with Cause of Death Country Coordinator and CRVS Coding Country Coordinator to stay abreast of activity developments and implementation - Maintain regular communication with financial team to support activity planning and coordination - Maintain regular communication with Mumbai and Maharashtra D4H focal persons to discuss D4H plans and activities - Prepare letters and other documents needed for approvals and circulars, and support the file preparation process, meeting with stakeholders for signatures and approval as needed - Track monitoring and evaluation indicators - Prepare reports as needed - Attend stakeholder and D4H team meetings, prepare meeting notes using standard reporting template with participant list, and share among D4H core team members - Facilitate coordination of special meetings and obtaining the necessary approvals Location of work and inputs : - The CRVS Liaison Officer will be based in Mumbai and have occasional travel to Pune and other locations within India. - The CDC will provide the CRVS Liaison Officer with a project laptop computer and will reimburse travel expenses. Duration of contract : The contract will be through March 31, 2021 at which point it may be renewed for a 12-month period Educational Qualifications : The applicant should have at least a post graduate degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Public Policy, Management or related disciplines from an institution of repute. Experience : - The applicant must have a minimum of 12 years of experience in working on assignments of similar nature independently or as a team lead.
