Regulatory Affairs Manager


Location: Gurgaon

Position Purpose:

Provide the technical regulatory leadership for Cargill India businesses.

- Development and implementation of processes, programs and documentation to ensure compliance of raw materials, finished products and import/export programs with applicable regulations and ensure the registrations/approvals required by authorities for activities, facilities and portfolio of all FIBI (one of the businesses)&other businesses operating in the country. 


- Monitor and understand regulations related to food safety, quality and marketing authorization of ingredients and products. Collaborate with other functions such as commercial, plant FSQR team, law and corporate affairs to interpret current regulations, monitor emerging regulations and assess impacts to businesses. Collaborate with Global Regulatory and Scientific Affairs team, Marketing, Product Claims and other related functions in Cargill as well as trade association in India to do the advocacy in India on food safety, Quality related regulation.

Principal Accountabilities:

- Develop and manage process for regulatory compliance of raw materials and finished products and provide oversight for registration/approvals of raw materials, processing aid, food additives, finished products and import/export activities (local and export destination countries). 


- Working together with FSQR team in businesses to ensure the product sold in India as well as destination countries complies with regulation. Compile application dossiers and interact with authorities for getting product approvals/Proprietary approvals. Provide strategic approach on regulatory aspects during new product development process.- 40%.

- Monitor, understand the regulations applicable to the activities, facilities and portfolio for the business operating in the country related to food safety, quality and marketing of products. Keep knowledge current. Collaborate with other functions such as law, Global Regulatory and Scientific Affairs and Corporate Affairs, Marketing, Product claims to monitor, understand and interpret current legislation, to anticipate emerging legislation and issues and assess short and medium terms impact to the businesses operating in the country.-20%.

- Coordinate the activities internally and collaborate with the team in the factories who is involved with government audits/inspection/sampling. Coordinate the preparation of action plans generated by audits or regulatory visits or sampling and communicate to government in collaboration with Corporate Affairs.- 10%.

- Lead and train people in business involved in regulatory compliance activities. Assess on regular basis and advise regulatory needs of the country for business operations-10%

- Develop and implement audit to verify compliance of products and its label. Develop and maintain metric for measuring compliance and for communicating with business and functions lead.- 5%

- Support trade associations activities or projects related to technical aspects of the legislation such as registration, labels, specifications. Collaborate with trade association and related Cargill functions to support advocacy in the country which relevant to concerned businesses.-10%

- Provide input to Global Cargill regulatory network. Provide regulatory input for any new product/project when required. 5%

Minimum Required Qualifications:

- BS/PG Degree in Food Science, Food technology, food industry, chemistry or related field.

- 10 years of professional Regulatory affairs experience; with most time in a food or food ingredient manufacturing company or pharmaceutical products manufacturing company.

- Good English speaking and writing.

- Intermediate Knowledge of Food Laws & Regulations - Stays up-to-date and ensures compliance with feed laws and regulations.

- Intermediate Managing and Improving Regulatory Processes - Delivers processes that are aligned, effective, and optimize Cargill resources.

- Intermediate knowledge in registration/product approval/proprietary approval process - knows the type of information and documents to be generated for registration of products.

- Intermediate Project Management - Applies a structured, disciplined approach to planning, administering and completing projects successfully.

- Intermediate Training / Meeting Management - Delivers learning solutions in a manner that engages learners and produces desired outcomes.

- Intermediate Scientific Knowledge. Applies scientific knowledge in quality, feed safety and animal nutrition to contribute to product registration and to provide input during new product development.

- Intermediate Business Acumen - Applies deep and practical business acumen to partner effectively with business counterparts.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master degree in Food Science, Food technology, food industry, chemistry or related field.

- 10 years of professional Regulatory affairs experience; with most time in a food, or food ingredient manufacturing company or pharma manufacturing company or Feed Manufacturing

- Active participation in food association.

- Fluent in English speaking and writing.

- Advanced Knowledge of Food Laws & Regulations - Stays up-to-date and ensures compliance with food laws and regulations.

- Advanced Managing and Improving Regulatory Processes - Delivers processes that are aligned, effective, and optimize Cargill resources.

- Advanced knowledge in registration process - knows the type of information and documents to be generated for registration of products, especially scientific information.

- Intermediate Project Management - Applies a structured, disciplined approach to planning, administering and completing projects successfully.

- Intermediate Training / Meeting Management - Delivers learning solutions in a manner that engages learners and produces desired outcomes.

- Intermediate Scientific Knowledge. Applies scientific knowledge in quality, feed safety and animal nutrition to provide input during new product development.
