Product Planning :
- Identify, assess and action on the available market opportunity for new and existing categories, markets and brands (quantitative and qualitative)
- Keep abreast of the trends prevailing in the international market and customize the same to suit the needs of the domestic market
- Provide budgeting for the year
- Develop new products based on the market trends, customer needs, positioning and opportunity (Thematic, costs, quality, packaging and planogram/pack fitment)
- Plan, finalize and drive the sales, margin and inventory for the assigned categories as per the budget and space
- Ensure range presentation (conceptualization of the ranges) is submitted to the concerned stakeholders at the beginning of the financial year
- Ensure buying for new styles is done as per OTB and stocks are available in the right mix and as per stock cover norms
- Ensure all product know how is shared to T&D team for implementation to operations team
- Ensure technical drawing are error free and products comply with the same (For Furniture only)
- Ensure technical specifications are defined and documented
- Drive timely planning and implementation of Buying and Seasonal calendar Product presentation
- Enhance the customer experience through brand (in coordination with Marketing and VM), product, packaging and planogram
- Enhance product/packaging quality so as to reduce defects as per norms Product Performance
- Ensure the ageing of stock with reference to overall stock holding is as per defined norms set by planning team
- Review subclass wise profitability and take required actions with respect to both SPF and MPF
- Conduct gap analysis based on the inputs provided by planning team, post launch for new and existing products and take required (corrective) actions
- Analyze product feedback (feedback module) and take required actions to address the feedback
- Analyze consumer behavior through data analytics, home tours, surveys, FGDs, store visits, discussions with internal customer/team
- Track competition with respect to business performance, promotions and productivity and take required actions to counter competition and retain market pie and customer base
- Reduce inefficiencies in the current processes for a seamless product lifecycle
Relationship management (internal and external) :
- Build long term relationships with vendors by understanding their scalability and relevance (quality, price and strengths)
- Rationalize and optimize supplier base by building volume scale thereby achieving better landed costs
- Rationalize and grow the potential vendors to ensure better quality, costs and scalability
- Manage Brand relationships. Negotiate terms of trade with new brands and regularly review performance of existing brands for corrective action (for Household only)
- Build and manage relationships with internal line functions such as Quality, Retail ops, Planning &
- Merchandising, VM, T&D, HR, SCM and Concept Finance
- People Management
- Build a high performing team
- Set expectations and give regular feedback to team to maximize performance
