Business Head - Operation - Ports

Leadership role - Ports (on the East coast - India)

1. BUSINESS FOCUS :

- Developing the business strategy for the Iron Ore and Coal Terminals at the port

- Achieving the Business Plan

- Revenues

- EBIDTA

- Cargo Throughput (Group and third party)

2. OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE :

- Custodian of operations excellence at the Port

- Aligning the port to benchmarks and standards on various parameters

- Driving supply chain solutions for potential business clients including material handling, storage, distribution and value-added services

- Enabling strategies for process improvement, innovation, upgradation, productivity enhancement, cost effectiveness, people and resource optimisation

- Devising and maintaining a storage policy to ensure and plan for effective cargo storage and evacuation

- Implementing SOP's and DOPs (Delegation of Power)

3. CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT :

- Engaging customers on their expectations, support needed, pricing points, contract obligations, complaints redressal etc.

- Keeping abreast with key developments and policy changes which may impact present and future cargo traffic

4. PEOPLE & CULTURE :

- Providing executive leadership to the team at the Port

- Working with the HR team to establish and maintain a productive company culture

- Attracting and retaining bright talent

- Championing the safety culture to achieve the goal of - zero accident- at the port

- Encouraging training and development at the port to foster a learning ethos at the unit

- Collaborating with cross functional teams (operations, finance, commercial, HR marketing and logistic support) toward timely completion of customer mandates

- Promoting communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and to curb any problems that may arise

- Leveraging best IT practices and spearheading digitization at the unit

5. EXTERNAL INTERFACE :

- Building relationships and networking with bodies like Port Trust/ IPA (Indian Ports Association)/ Maritime Board/ IPTA/ FICCI/ Mercantile Chamber/ Ministry of Shipping/ Ministry of Commerce/ TAMP/ Railways and its PSU etc.

- Representing the company at various forums, trade meets and conferences

- Liaising with Central /State /Private Sector Power plants and electricity boards for services provided by associate companies

- Supporting CSR programme implementation

Desired Profile :

- Should have held a Senior Management/Leadership position with a Port company or Mining company. or companies with very large import /export business. with rich exposure in mechanized Marine Operations handling dry bulk cargo

- BE Mechanical/ Master Mariner / MBA with minimum 20 years of relevant experience managing teams across Operations, IT, marketing and customer service

- Should possess excellent communication skills, PR skills, analytical approach, and should be able to handle critical situations

- Should be innovative, creative and customer centric

- Should have flair for IT, modern technology, innovation and strategy
