Job Title: Human Resource Business Partner (This is an indefinite position however we will be hiring 2 years FTC initially)

Purpose of the job:

The business partnering function will work with key business leads to shape and support the delivery of the people component of business strategies and priorities. The role will do this by building knowledge of the business landscape of the delivery teams one is responsible for and provide expertise to advise, coach and support Sr. HRBP to facilitate complex and critical people related initiatives and issues, as well as ensuring that change is effective and sustainable. The role will be responsibility for the relationship between HR and the business with a strong focus on talent and development.

Geopolitical/SBU/Function overview:

This role is a part of HRBP function at SSC. The business partnering function works with key business leads to shape and support the delivery of the people component of business strategies and priorities.

Main opportunities/challenges for this role:

- Build key relationships within the business and develop an in-depth knowledge of the business by understanding its financial position, short, midrange and long-term plans and the culture being driven.

- Partner with the leadership team to ensure the business agenda is met through the COEs and manage accountability of delivering the right level of service to the business

- Enable and guide delivery teams through change: structural, location, cultural and ways of working.

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Consultancy, analysis & problem-solving

- Provide insightful analysis, assurance and management reporting on people matters to inform day to day management priorities and to underpin future strategy development around people, change and organisation

 Analyse business challenges and assess and manage ways in which people strategies can provide solutions

- Work with the Sr. HRBP and HR CoE team to implement improved policies and practices as part of problem solving based on analysis.

Internal customer focus

- Manage the alignment of delivery teams strategic priorities and HR strategy.

- Consult closely with internal customers and other stakeholder to understand current and future business needs and takes initiatives accordingly.

- Liaise and work with the HR Centres of Expertise and provide personal coaching and support to enable development and management of the most senior population in delivery teams.

Service improvement

- Influence partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service that reflects the business objectives of the organization leading to enhanced employee engagement and ultimately improved productivity and performance.

- Identify and make professional recommendations to more senior managers for improvements to ways of working that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the HR function, as well as the operational effectiveness of their internal customers.

- Participate and lead on cross functional change management projects.

Functional expertise

- Contribute to the development of the HR strategy, sharing expertise and learning and ensuring an integrated approach to developing strong people leadership and management in the business area responsible for.

- Provide an assurance role in ensuring consistency with the implementation of HR strategies that are integrated, fair and equitable and aligned to best practice.

- Contribute to the development of the strategic workforce plan for the delivery teams to support a cost effective and sustainable organisation with the capability and capacity to deliver the agreed business outcomes and to contribute to a cohesive workforce plan for the delivery team.

- Ensure all HR activities in the delivery team are underpinned by the British Council values and promote equal opportunities and diversity within the organization

- Provide insightful analysis, assurance and management reporting on people matters to inform day to day management priorities and to underpin future strategy development around people, change and organisation.

- Work along with delivery teams to assess, create and implement innovative & diverse employee engagement initiatives.

- Monitor headcount, locations and skills forecast for HR, together with developing consistent workforce planning and skills frameworks which are aligned to the business planning cycle. This includes the analysis of HR data alongside strategic objectives to ensure the workforce strategy aligns to business objectives.

- Partners with delivery teams to retain, develop and motivate people to achieve their fullest potential.

- Work with the delivery teams to address employee related issues while ensuring adherence to policies and balance in representing all parties interest.

- Ensure governance to keep HR processes in compliance.

Relationship & stakeholder management

- Manage the relationship with the business stakeholders and develop an in-depth knowledge of the business by understanding its financial position short, midrange and long-term plans and the culture being driven.

- Develop peer/personal networks within and outside the BC to enhance own knowledge and expertise.

- Work with the Sr .HRBP and HR Centres of Expertise to translate and implement the corporate people strategies in the key areas of talent, resourcing, reward, employee engagement, diversity and organisation development, to develop the culture required to deliver the organisations strategy and goals.

Leadership & management

- Provide HR and talent input for development of business strategy for a specific business area. Work in partnership with business management to identify the people implications of strategic and business growth plans across defined organizational areas.

- Contribute to the development of effective HRBP support through AM HRBP/s to ensure a high performing function which builds capability in the line, shares learning and proactively brings best practice approaches to the Shared services.

- Plan and prioritise own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and deliverables.
