Biocon - Head - Internal Investigation & Process Excellence (12-18 yrs)

A.Role : 

- The Head Internal Investigation and Process Excellence, will be responsible for (a) ensuring unhindered investigations are conducted into allegations related to fraud, corruption, and misconduct involving Biocon Biologics Staff, about Biocon Biologics operations (including financed operations), administrative budgets and misuse of resources; (b) ensuring process compliance across the organisation; (c) oversight on function level process excellence team and track all implementation of corrective measures identified. The outcomes of the investigations will be administered under the Biocon Biologics disciplinary framework.

Location: Bangalore, Corporate Head Quarters

B.Detailed Job Description :

Under the supervision and guidance of the General Counsel, the Head- Internal Investigation will:

1. Conduct sensitive preliminary inquiries into allegations of fraud, corruption or staff misconduct as the needs of the function require.

2. Review and analyze allegations and whistleblowing information to determine relevancy and reliability, conduct sensitive interviews and other investigative research activities.

3. Analysis and prioritization of new allegations and whistle-blower information.

4. Initiate activities in controlling, tracking, and analyzing allegations, investigations and findings.

5. Undertake and manage investigations and deliver highest quality related investigative work product.

6. Lead or participate in the conduct of sensitive and complex interviews and investigations

7. Make decisions that are ethically based, transparent and take into account due process

8. Establish appropriate deadlines and processes for ensuring work products of the highest standards

9. Maintain case files electronically in the case management system (CMS) and in hard copy

10. Ensure compliance with chain of custody procedures, maintaining case records, testimony and evidence

11. Provide leadership to staff in a group investigation and evaluating work-load as well as take responsibility for the outcomes of the teams investigations

12. Prepare investigation reports relating to investigative findings, discuss and defend the findings, conclusions and recommendations

13. On request or in the absence of the manager while acting as officer-in-charge, review and edit outputs of investigators and quality control the substance and presentation of investigative findings

14. Prepare management implication reports resulting from internal control weaknesses giving rise to the occurrence of an investigative event;

15. Provide statistical analyses of both on-going and completed investigations

16. Communicate the outcomes and lessons learned from staff misconduct investigations and investigations into financial fraud.

17. Creating and implementing an effective compliance program; Oversee, coordinate, and monitor the day-to-day compliance activities of the business unit;

18. Leading Process Excellence Team:

a. Develop / Advise on policies, programs, systems; thereby adding value and institutionalizing Control measures for compliance with internal policies, industry guidelines, laws and regulations, improve effectiveness of operations, reliability of financial and management reporting.

b. Primary responsibility to ensure functional level process compliance across the organisation globally.

c. Primary responsibility to mentor, manage the function level process excellence team and undertake periodic process related audit to achieve excellence.

C. Education and Experience/Skill Required

1. Graduate or post-graduate in any specialization. Law degree not mandatory.

2. Minimum of 12+ years of substantial professional experience in (a) investigative work, preferably investigations relating to fraud and corruption in public or private sector, including criminal prosecution or defense work, insurance or procurement fraud or corruption; forensic audit; tracing stolen assets and professional misconduct in a corporate or governmental setting; (b) ensure functional level process compliance across the organization globally and proven ability to plan, prepare, conduct various process lev

3. Added Advantage: (a) Experience in financial integrity investigations and fraud investigation; (b) prior experience in Big 4; and (c) professional Qualification in Fraud Examination.

4. Understanding of the modus operandi of corrupt entities (i.e. large, medium and small companies, consultants, etc.) in a development or similar context and/or procurement, investment and development aid related to fraud, corruption, collusion, coercion and obstructive practices in the Biocon Biologics sphere of operations.

5. Understanding of unethical behaviours or professional misconduct, including extensive knowledge of Business Ethics and Compliance in a multinational company or organization

6. Strong and proven ability to communicate, write, present and clearly defend findings and recommendations of investigations and strong organizational and analytical ability with attention to detail and ability to work independently and manage challenges

7. Good understanding of employment regulations
