BharatPe - Director - Swipe (10-15 yrs)
In this role, you have the opportunity to
Strategize & Plan:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive POS strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives
- Identify emerging trends and technologies in the POS industry and assess their potential impact on the business
- Collaborate with senior management to define the long-term vision and roadmap for the POS systems
- Drive POS Business P&L inline to the AoP / targets defined by the leadership
- Introduce new revenue lines & optimize cost centers.
Responsibilities will include:
Functional Expertise:
- A deep understanding of POS hardware, software, and related technologies
- Proficiency in payment processing protocols, standards, and regulations
- Have a grasp of UX principles and practices to ensure an intuitive and user-friendly interface for merchants and internal agents
- Proficiency in data analysis is vital for extracting meaningful insights from POS transaction data
- Understanding of Payment Application (installed on POS), Switch Network and Card Schemes
- Understanding of card transaction flow on POS machines
- An understanding of industry-specific regulations, security protocols, and data privacy requirements
- Staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends
Problem Solving:
Order Commercialization:
- Define & Implement new order commercials in line with business strategy
- Map / update existing incentive plans to support the distribution
- Perform competition benchmarking in regular intervals to assess and change order commercials if required
- Ensure key metrices like customer's LTV, Breakeven month, profitability are staying up to the mark
Manage Distribution channels for PoS:
- Support direct sales / network teams in achieving their sale targets
- Setup, drive and supervise non-FOS (Tele Sales) channel for POS
- Support marketing / growth channel for improving DIY POS sales
- Ensure CAC across all channels is contained within the approved commercials by the management
- Define and implement key innovations / strategies to improve order funnel metrices
Transactional Profit Margins:
- Review and modify POS onboarding rules to ensure a merchant gets onboarded in the most favored bank as per the profile
- Review and modify transaction routing logics to improve MDR / Interchange fee profit margins
- Periodically review the transaction processing system / logics to ensure MDR / Interchange fee levied to merchants or charged by the banks are optimal
- Define and implement enhancements around transaction flow like persona based Cashback, loyalty programs to improve TPV & activation rates
POS Implementation & Management:
- Lead the selection, implementation, and integration of POS systems, ensuring they meet the organization's requirements
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for secure and efficient transaction processing
- Define product pipeline keeping in mind asks from all divisions and work with Product to get this executed
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Build and lead a high performing team of professionals, providing coaching, mentoring and performance feedback
- Foster a collaborative culture, promoting cross functional collaboration with departments such as Product, Tech, Operations, Marketing, Data Science, Tax/Finance etc.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to POS systems and services
- Manage strategic relationships with POS partners including TSP's, Switches, Network providers, Card Schemes and Acquiring Banks
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Work with product / Data science teams to leverage data from POS systems to generate insights and actionable recommendations for improving sales, inventory management and customer experience
- Develop and implement reporting mechanisms to track key performance indicators related to POS operations
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management, providing data driven insights to drive decision making
- Strategic Innovation - By embracing technological advancements, position the organization as an industry leader and stay ahead of competitors
- Improved profit margins aligning with organization's vision & strategy
- Increased Operational Efficiency - Optimize workflows, eliminate redundancies, and leverage technology advancements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall productivity
- Build a compliant business framework
Challenges & Decisions:
- Identifying pain points impacting product's P&L & take pre-emptive measures to solve them
- Choosing the right POS hardware and software solutions that align with the company's requirements, scalability, and integration capabilities
- Addressing usability issues and optimizing the POS system's user interface to improve the overall customer experience
- Gathering customer feedback and insights to drive enhancements and prioritize feature development
Qualification & Experience (type & industry):
- Graduate Degree in Engineering/Economics/Statistics/Management
- Post-Graduation Degree in Business Management
- 10+ years of experience in Financial industry. 3+ years of work ex in POS systems, hardware, software and integration process
- Strong technical knowledge of POS systems, hardware, software, and integration processes
Skills & know-how:
- Hands-on experience managing portfolio and P&L of a product
- Well versed with Bank, Switches framework
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable insights
- Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
