BEMPU - Product Manager - IIT/NID (8-12 yrs)

At BEMPU, we deliver life-saving health innovations for babies around the world - and we need rockstars like you to join our team!

Our first product, the BEMPU Bracelet, prevents newborn death by alerting for hypothermia and infections early. The Bracelet was selected among TIME Magazine's Top 25 Innovations of 2017 and has now reached to 12,000+ babies around the world.

However, with your help, we'll scale this to reach more babies. Further, you will help us launch a pipeline of newborn products for kangaroo care promotion and monitoring, neonatal apnea, post-partum depression screening, and more.

We are looking for skilled and experienced Product Managers who are passionate to improve the health of millions in low-resource countries through the use of technology. The individual will lead the design, development, manufacturing and scaling of BEMPU's products and will work with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, product designers, public health and marketing experts. We are looking for people who are able to stretch over multiple projects and interact with aspects of medicine, engineering, business and social impact.

Core Responsibilities:

- Design, Research, Development, Testing

- You will lead a team of designers and engineers and be accountable for the design and development of smart wearable medical technologies, taking them from concept to manufacturing.

- You will interface with clinicians, customers, regulatory, business and public health experts for defining product features.

- You will assist in clinical validation and user testing of products.

- You will identify materials, manufacturing processes, parts and interface with vendors for prototyping and manufacturing.

- You will technically evaluate the product in terms of safety & performance; define the test requirements and protocols for product testing.

- You will manage the IP protection for new products.

Manufacturing

- You would assist or lead engineering activities related to manufacturing and scale up, including development and implementation of quality systems, development of supply chain, cost reduction activities.

Regulatory

- You would be involved with regulatory requirements such as those defined by ISO 13485 or other quality systems.

- You would write reports used for CE or other submissions.

Team management

- You will be managing a team of engineers and designers, and will be responsible to keep them motivated and build a healthy work environment.

- You will be responsible to identify skilled human resource and build teams to run your projects.

Secondary Responsibilities

- You may be involved with a number of other activities like defining business model for new products, market and competitor landscaping, field research and clinical evaluation of innovations.

- A number of other initiatives that might be necessary to bring the products to market and making an impact.

- Represent the company at various events.

Desired qualifications

- Candidates with these traits are preferred:

- Degree in Industrial/Product Design from NID, IDC, CPDM,IIT or other industrial design schools is a must

- Passion about improving the lives of underserved and low-income customers.

- Experience with design and development of products, preferably leading teams.

- Exposure to design thinking, systems designs or DFM.

- At least 5+ years of work experience.

- Experience with statistics, report writing and documentation, CE, FDA, ISO 13485.

- Potential experience with smart wearable or IoT devices.
