Finance Controller/Finance Head

Job Description:

The Head of Finance / Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, planning, budgeting, fundraising support, investor reporting, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of fintech agility and mortgage industry expertise with a solid grasp of GAAP, financial modeling, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

- Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with company goals.

- Provide financial insights to the executive team to support decision-making.

- Support fundraising activities, including preparation of investor decks, due diligence, and financial projections.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

- Build and maintain financial models for cash flow, runway, and unit economics.

- Analyze key metrics (e.g., CAC, LTV, NIM) to inform business strategy.

Accounting & Reporting:

- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.

- Prepare consolidated financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.

- Lead internal and external audits.

Compliance & Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and mortgage industry requirements.

- Oversee financial controls, internal audits, and risk assessments.

- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies (e.g., CFPB, SEC, state mortgage regulators).

Operational Finance:

- Oversee treasury, cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.

- Optimize capital structure, working capital, and financing costs.

- Evaluate and implement financial systems and automation tools.

Team Leadership:

- Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.

- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
