India is important in our network of - global sourcing hubs- and we are currently looking for a senior hands-on global sourcing and procurement manager to join our growing High Performance Team in India. The ideal candidate must have an in-depth understanding of global sourcing best practice and significant experience in sourcing a wide variety of categories in India for international clients - and managing related logistics and export formalities. Responsibilities

- Plan, execute and manage end-to-end global sourcing and procurement operations primarily from India and South Asia but also from other Best Cost Countries (BCCs)

- Prepare procedures, methodologies, SOPs, best practices, guides for various tasks and reports

- Leveraging previous experience to proactively identify, manage and mitigate risks during operations

- Manage and ensure internal work quality meets with Axis standards and procedures, and that deliverables and documentation are client ready

- Internal and external project updates (as and when required) and ensure relevant parties are informed of status

- Participate in strategic initiatives in operations and other ad hoc tasks as and when required

- Evaluate specification from customer and ensuring completeness and comprehensiveness with Axis- standards. Assist in specifications development when not available from the client

- Plan sourcing approach, research market and supplier base, identify potential supplier base, and evaluate suppliers- capability from a commercial and technical points of view

- Initial feasibility assessment, running formal RFx processes (etc.), receiving offers on timely manner, ensure completeness of offers and continuous engagement throughout the process

- Conduct enquiries, quotations, tenders with shortlisted potential supplier base, engage with suppliers to offer feasible proposals and clarify queries when needed. Evaluate proposal holistically including but not limited to technical, commercial, supply risk, and other relevant factors

- Understand requirements, procurement scope of work, risks associated and crucial details - and determine (commercial, technical and other) gaps between requirements and suppliers capabilities and their offers

- Plan, execute and manage engagement with evaluated suppliers including establishing relationships at the appropriate level

- Coordinate with relevant departments for issue of PO, drafting of contract, vendor onboarding, timely payment, and other administrative work to ensure smooth transactions

- Coordinate and manage QA/QC, plant visits, samples, audits, production supervision, product inspection, quality supervision, packaging supervision, etc. to ensure quality deliverables on schedule and high customer service levels

- Engaging with logistics partners, other third parties such as testing agencies, auditors - and coordinate logistics operations, testing, certification and shipping

- Logistics and export coordination, as and when required

- Supplier database development and ongoing maintenance

Requirements

- Graduate / post-graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Procurement or Supply Chain related disciplines; AND a completed MBA from a tier 1 school


- A minimum of 10 years of solid hands-on experience in global sourcing and procurement

- Exposure to mining, heavy industrial or chemical industries is preferred

- Candidates with in-depth understanding and experience in buying in India for global clients will be ideal for the role. Understanding of logistics and export formalities will be an added advantage

- Candidates with understanding of wide range of categories will be preferred

- Self-driven, independent contributor that can manage own work-tempo and team members

- Highly analytical mindset and problem solving capabilities; and demonstrated procurement analytics and procurement advisory experience would be an advantage

- Fast-learner with willingness to learn new things quickly, energetic, proactive, highly motivated and self-driven with strong multi-tasking skills

- In depth technical/engineering knowledge in relevant categories

- Strong relationship building and maintaining ability, especially at different levels of supplier base

- Excellent communication skills - and ability to organize and present facts and arguments in a structured, persuasive and convincing manner

- Proficient in the use of computers and commonly-used business software

- Good verbal and written communication skills in English is a must with multi-cultural experience and a team work ethic. Knowledge of other Indian/International language will be valued

- Ethics, integrity and honesty

- Attention to detail and setting high performance standards for himself or herself

- Must be able to work with little supervision and some percentage of ambiguity with associated risks managed

- Ability to handle pressure and work with tight deadlines

- Ability and willingness to travel in short notice
