Risk Analyst - Credit and Market Risk

AXA XL is the Property & Casualty risk division of AXA, created from the acquisition of XL Catlin in 2018. The Risk Analyst is key in supporting the Financial Risk Center of Excellence (FRM COE). This role will report to the Senior Manager - Senior Risk Evaluation Analyst.

The focus is on Credit and Market Risk, working closely with the underwriting businesses with products with embedded credit risk, war, terrorism and political violence exposures, Investments, other Risk COEs and legal entity risk teams.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

Data Management :

- Develop and maintain a database capturing all credit and country risk exposures

- Develop mechanisms to make sure risk exposures are within risk thresholds

- Aggregate all credit exposures at their Global Ultimate Shareholder level using tools such as Bloomberg or S&P IQ

- Aggregate all country risk exposures by country and by line of business

- Update the credit quality of all credit exposures using rating agencies data

- Update the country grades using data from IHS Markit

- Review the credit and country risk information captured in enterprise aggregation systems to make sure it is complete, accurate, and timely

- Utilize SQL queries to extract investment exposure data

- Own the Internal Model Mortgage Risk process and control

- Update interest rate, credit spread, and other data for the Macroeconomic dashboard reporting

- Maintain procedure documentation

Analysis, Reporting & Oversight :

- Provide support in the establishment and maintenance of appropriate risk management policies, tolerances, and authorities

- Support the development of downside scenarios and PML metrics

- Support periodic and ad hoc research in selected underwriting portfolios

- Provide support for deals that are referred to FRM for their risk content

- Assist with modelling enterprise risk and produce enterprise risk reports and dashboards

- Assist in Group and Legal Entity model validation and stress testing

- Work closely with the Capital Modeling team on the Internal Model Short Term Economic Capital (STEC) process

- Make sure Market and Credit Risk is well captured by the model and critically evaluate output

- Make sure data controls are followed and signoff on quality of asset/liability data in the model

- Assist with updating of senior level committee dashboards

Other :

- Support the Credit and Market Risk teams with special projects and ad hoc duties as assigned

We're looking for someone who has these experiences, abilities and skills:

Required Skills and Abilities :

- Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and Visual Basic application (VBA)

- Knowledge of (re)insurance product lines

- Knowledge of investment risk management and ALM concepts

- Ability to collaborate with and challenge as appropriate

- Ability to collaborate effectively to find solutions within a matrix/complex organization

- Continuous improvement mindset and desire/ability to streamline processes

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Critical thinking, analytical skills, attention to detail, and proactive nature

Desired Skills and Abilities :

- Bachelor and/or master's degree in Finance/Investments, Risk Management, Mathematics, or Economics. CFA or FRM designation preferred

- Multi-asset class experience a plus

- 3+ years of experience in a (re)insurance company

- Familiarity with capital modeling and/or model validation
