We are currently assisting a Premier Bank for various positions (AVP/VP) within the Reference Data Governance team constituted within their Finance Operations. The Reference Data Management - Counterparty (RDM - C) team is a critical part of the office of the CDO.

Reporting to : Vice President / Senior Vice President

Location : Chennai

Experience : 13-18 Years

The primary role of the RDM - C team is to ensure overall maintenance of data model of reference data systems / transaction processing systems of the bank through a full impact assessment on any changes and through reactive and proactive data quality monitoring.

The RDMC team would also support in:

- Analysis of data attributes in the bank's systems to understand their meaning/ usage/ provenance, identify data owners, and document the same into an overall data dictionary

- Profiling of data attributes to assess quality

- Reactive monitoring of Client Static Data (CSD) quality and selective one-time - clean-ups-

- Tactical support for Data stream related part of various project of RDM C

- Any approved PAR based projects or initiatives arising out of but not restricted to legal/compliance, data quality resolution initiatives

Principle Roles & Responsibilities

1. Individual with a go-getter attitude to be self driven in approach towards understanding the various client static attributes, their significance and liaise with the owners of upstream and downstream systems across the bank, assesses the quality thereof through measurable indicators and suggests changes in terms of additions/modifications/deletions. Some examples of this would include but not restricted to:

a. Regular recon (Quarterly / monthly) to ensure accuracy of attribute Risk Rating of clients between Client Due Diligence where it originates to Core banking system where it's manually maintained.

b. Understand the importance of having a single customer identifier and its mapping across various Transaction Processing systems.

c. Understand master-slave relationship among client static data fields across Transaction Processing systems for key attributes.

2. Proactive Data Quality Monitoring - Key R&R

a. Proactively drive resolution of data quality issues that are identified through the reporting framework

i. To engage with various downstream users and understand the critical data elements which are sourced by them ((e.g., Finance for BCRS, PMI, PC Sales Database, GL Enrichment layer; Risk for ACR and CMS; FCC for AML/ sanctions systems)) and to ensure that the data quality of such data points are proactively maintained

ii. Allocation of actions to upstream (e.g., CDD or account opening/ closure/ maintenance teams; systems teams in charge of interfaces) or downstream consumers where appropriate

iii. Collaborate with different stakeholders within the bank to provide - thought leadership- and delivering change across business and technology infrastructure through innovations in Data Quality Automation, Analytics and other relevant techniques.

b. Conduct targeted analysis of legacy data quality (including using external vendors where appropriate)

i. Act and build team members to act as a Subject Matter Expert and work with other units like COM, SIM etc to ensure the right level of expertise is built into the existing process and systems, working alongside with the product/project, risk analytics, service delivery, and change management teams

ii. To check on the various data points and to proactively come out with the list of issues system wise which can cause the deterioration of the data quality.

3. Generic Desirable Traits

a. Own, Manage and be responsible for delivering all services relating Reference Data Management deliverables as agreed - Building Data Dictionary, Core System Experts, Proactive Data Quality Monitoring and Investigation.

c. Take ownership for all responsible services within the function assigned, acting as a single point of contact for the services rendered.

a. Possess relevant domain/subject matter expertise in the area of Data Management/Banking and Financial Services. Exposure in Data Warehousing/ETL/Analytics is an added advantage.

b. Have the ability to distill facts/information from multiple sources and appropriately develop a structured approach to delivery of service

c. Have the ability to proactively facilitate discussions, analyse processes, prioritize issues, categorize challenges within a complex working environment

d. Implement Knowledge Management initiatives through trainings, workshops to build domain capabilities required for the job

Preferred Skills and experience

The candidate should have experience in one of the following functions and should have good analytical skills, understanding of banking products/processes, Trade and lending products, Client On boarding and Due Diligence, Data Governance from leading global/international banks.

In addition, candidates from outside the banking domain will be considered if they have deep functional knowledge of the finance function OR have been involved in data analysis and migration work in major data warehousing projects.

Technical skills

All members must be very comfortable with Microsoft Excel (critical to data analysis work). In addition, some combination of the following skills will also be helpful (though not mandatory)

- Prior experience of data analysis and profiling work, data quality management

- Knowledge and experience of SQL query design, optimization

- Experience of working with any of the major transaction processing systems (e.g., Imex, Murex, ACBS) or data warehouses (Teradata) used in leading banks

Preferred Education/Qualifications

- M.S, MBA (Finance), MBA (Banking), M. Sc(Mathematics), M. Tech (Computer Sciences) from an Institute/University of Repute, Degree in Accounting, Statistics, or Computer Science specializing in Information Management, Information Systems, Data Management, Analytics or equivalent

- Bachelors in Engineering or Science or Commerce from an Institute/University of Repute

- Certification in Risk Management (FRM or equivalent)
