AVP - Product Control - BFS (10-15 yrs)

Primary Responsibilities

- Ensure daily T+1 P&L production with appropriate attribution and analysis.

- Accountable for performance and associated risks for all activities performed within the service delivery group ensuring at a minimum all SLAs are met

- Lead, motivate and manage a team of 15+ people. Responsible for recruitment, training and development, talent management and retention.

- Foster an environment that understands and effectively manages risk, abides by risk and control guidelines.

- Partnering with the change team and onshore stakeholders to deliver an optimum operating environment through the adoption of best practice, kaizan, lean methodologies and strategic technology initiatives.

- Ensuring that the integrity of the operating environment meets audit and regulatory standards

Qualification & Experience required

Qualification

- MBA or Chartered Accountant

- 7+ years Product Control experience in Investment Banking

- The individual should be fully conversant with the fundamentals of financial control in a banking environment

- The individual with preferably have experience working in the Product Control/Financial Control/ Trade Services functions of an established financial institution, with a detailed understanding of equity products and there accounting treatment.

- MS Office skills: - MS-Power Point, MS-Access, MS-Excel & through knowledge of lookups & pivot tables required, Ability to perform Excel spreadsheet analysis and ability to troubleshoot errors in Access.

- Must have an appreciation of the revenue drivers and various investment strategies

- Exposure to multiple front office systems.

- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Greeks

- Knowledge of US-GAAP/IAS is preferred.

Skills

Communication & strong interpersonal skills

- The individual should be experienced in dealing with diverse range of stakeholders up to and including senior management

- Ability to communicate effectively (oral & written) & strong interpersonal skills

- Experience of dealing with Front-office traders, in particular demanding traders or managing difficult situations such as trading errors.

- Strong analytical / problem-solving skills.

Time management skills

- The individual must have a proven track record of the ability to work to deadlines in an accurate manner - this is a fundamental requirement

- Well organized & able to clearly present results of work.

Drive and Motivation

- Passion for change and confidence in own abilities.

- Be comfortable & willing to drive process improvement and demonstrate out of the box thinking.

- Should be diligent, thorough, shows initiative and is proactive

People Management and Supervision

Experience of managing a team preferably 15+, including:

- Performance appraisal and objective setting.

- Giving constructive feed-back and mentoring more inexperienced staff.

Supervising work performed by others.

- Experience in carrying out 4-eye checks.
