AVP - Human Resource - Global Banking and Markets


An opportunity has arisen for a HR Generalist Role, to join a prestigious investment bank in Mumbai.

Principal Accountabilities - 

- Support Sr. HR Generalist in coverage of Global Banking and Markets client groups, may also manage own client segments. This would be done by acting as a trusted advisor to the business ensuring risks are being managed appropriately in the landscape of the current environment and strategies and values being considered at the forefront of the actions

- Manage through cyclical key HR activities such as Pay Review, Recruitment and AOP/Headcount planning, restructuring exercises, retentions, and performance management and talent development cycles.

- Understand the business and departmental objectives and identify how HR can drive/support the achievement of these in partnership with the business

- Contribute to the development and support implementation of HR strategy (global/regional/business line/local) - this can be working on talent and development initiatives, retention strategies and/or restructuring/hiring strategies

- Use human capital metrics to support the anticipation and identification of local trends, risks and needs within the business before they escalate and recommend solutions to HR leadership. Support identification of talent pool candidates, promoting career development, coaching and development planning within the business

- Facilitate effective and consistent performance management and calibration and pay review discussions and negotiations within the business, supporting specific interventions and promoting compliant job evaluation

- Work with the business to develop and maintain a positive employee relations environment

- Support the Head of HR or senior HR Manager in senior band recruitment and in manpower planning discussions within the business, using Group frameworks

Customers/Stakeholders - 

- Establish and maintain objective and valued business partnerships at the relevant level of the business, communicating business requirements and demands back into HR

- Promote increased people management accountability amongst line managers, supporting them in the application of HR policies and the development of sound people management practice

- Support effective communication of the Group People Strategy, local HR strategy and change agendas, supported by Business Support, OD and Internal Communication

- Provide advice to managers on complex HR issues and people decisions, advising on complex disciplinary, grievance and tribunal actions

Leadership & Teamwork - 

- Work closely alongside the business, representing the whole HR function and building strong relationships back into HR

- Role model behaviors required for delivery of the transformed function

- Operational Effectiveness & Control

- Work collaboratively with HR Service Delivery and Specialist teams to implement fully compliant HR products and services within agreed timeline and budget and consistent with Group requirements

- Support HR service issue resolution, promoting contact center channels for resolving commonplace business people issues

- Support the business in the management of their people risk

- Support demand and capacity planning, working with Business Support to translate local business demand into operational and financial plans

- Embed the Group self-service strategy locally and redirect commonplace and in policy queries through the standard support model

- Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

Management of Risk

- Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

- Aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with the role and ensure that all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.

- Aware of the People Risk scenarios associated with the role and ensure that all actions take account of the likelihood of - operational risk occurring.

- Compliance with HR risk policies and standards and ensure initiatives are in accordance with Group Risk standards and policy.

- Custodian of employer reputational risk.

- Observation of Internal Controls

- Maintains internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

- Implements the Group Compliance Policy, as applicable to the role.

- Complete appropriate internal control standards and relevant compliance policy
