Associate/Senior Associate - Climate/Sustainability Impact Fund (2-5 yrs)

Key responsibilities

1. Support the Deputy Director of Programme with overall programme management, including budgeting, planning, reporting, development, and strategy;

2. Work with the Deputy Director of Programmes to support the organisation's grants portfolio and see the grants through to completion of the approval process;

3. Keep abreast of current events, developments and issues in the field, including through continued engagement with partners and the wider network, to maintain a balanced and objective perspective and approach to grantmaking;

4. Coordinate capacity building / technical assistance and programmatic opportunities for grantees;

5. Provide support as needed for reports, proposals and presentations; and run an information management strategy to help the organisation's staff keep current on the changing landscape;

6. Follow up and review renewals, proposals, due diligence, contracts, reports and other grantee/ consultant deliverables;

7. Support the wider programme team to manage the programme budget, maintain the grants management system, and interface with operations.

Experiences and competencies

1. Master's degree or at least three years of experience working either as programme staff in an organization focused on climate and/or social justice issues, specifically around land, water, and forest rights, climate justice, or sustainable development.

2. Deep knowledge of historical and current political, social, and economic trends in India.

3. Previous operations and project management experience is preferable.

4. Expertise in clean energy transition, energy policies, energy finance, or clean air/water initiatives is also preferable.

5. Able to make effective connections among research, policy and practice and to work productively with civil society groups, academic institutions and other foundations.

6. Must have working knowledge of relevant government policies and programmes in India.

7. Excellent analytical and communications skills.

8. Self-confident, collegial, and diplomatic, with an appreciation of the role of a grantmaking institution.

9. High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any productivity tools.

Other skills: Needless to say, must be a team player; able to organize and convey problems and issues clearly and succinctly; maintain openness to people with diverse views; and a talent for using initiative and managing time and priorities effectively.
