Associate Research Specialist - Fixed Income - CPA/CFA/IIM/ISB/MDI/FMS (2-7 yrs)

Designation - Associate Research Specialist

Role overview :

The job involves providing comprehensive research support to select Fixed Income analysts, including on financial modelling, credit analysis, structured products analysis, sector/country updates, and other custom research work. Person should have a good understanding of fixed income instruments and the broader financial research process.

Roles & Responsibilities :

- Provide all round research support to Asia/Europe/US FI analysts, including on new and on-going coverage

- Prepare detailed financial models, cash flow models (for instruments), comp sheets, industry studies and company notes. Perform liquidity and basic statistical analysis

- Provide quality data and analysis to make the research process more efficient and robust

- Keep abreast of important trends and developments in the relevant sectors/geographies

- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and within the team

- Make regular presentations to the team on relevant topics/areas of expertise

Key Result Areas  :

- Quality of work : Accuracy, presentation and attention to detail in day-to-day delivery, depth of contribution, creative thinking, effort to provide incremental value-add

- Responsiveness

- Strength of relationships with clients and team

- Knowledge development and sharing on assigned sector/geography.

Experience & Education :

- 2 to 5 years prior experience in Fixed Income/Credit Research

- MBA from a prominent institute or CPA or CFA or Masters in Finance

Essential Skills :

- Good understanding of the fixed income domain (capital structure, spreads, price drivers, macroeconomic numbers and their impact etc.) and the wider capital markets

- Financial Skills : Excellent understanding of financial statements, numbers and key credit ratios.

- Experience in modelling, Analytical / Problem solving skills, with a logical thought process - to sort, analyse and creatively interpret large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data

- Research Communication : Able to write research notes which are clear, consistent, and non consensual and supported by facts and analysis.

i. Deep knowledge of a sector / geography - key drivers, dynamics, trends and indicators - would be advantageous

ii. Database skills - Bloomberg and other core financial databases

iii. Effectively manage relations to improve overall engagement and show pro-activeness in anticipating requests.

iv. Keen eye for detail with excellent presentation skills in order to communicate effectively with all stakeholders

v. Should have exposure to working in a global environment with an ability to work with people across the globe in different time zones and with different cultures.
