Associate Director - Indirect Tax
Responsibilities :
- The incumbent will be responsible for managing and scaling up the Indirect Tax practice of the firm, including handling litigations and advisory on a pan-India basis, under the guidance of a Partner.
- This role involves building and guiding teams, assisting on day-to-day client issues, ensuring timely client deliverables, and staying updated on regulatory changes and judicial pronouncements.
- Responsibilities include business generation from existing and new clients, managing and building client relationships, handling litigations such as notices, inquiries, show cause notices, and department audits, and making written and in-person representations before authorities.
- The role also requires ensuring client deadlines are met, delegating and coordinating tasks among teams, responding to technical issues, ensuring adherence to systems and processes, and regularly reporting client issues to the Partner.
- Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to build and strengthen client relationships through regular meetings, guide and motivate team members, develop new products in indirect taxes, and lead technical research in the field of indirect taxes.
Requirements :
- The ideal candidate should be a qualified CA with more than 10 years of post-qualification experience in the field of Indirect Taxes within a professional services firm.
- Expertise in indirect taxes including GST, Service Tax, VAT, Excise, and Customs is required, along with experience in handling litigations and making representations before tax authorities.
- The candidate should be proficient in drafting responses to legal notices, refund applications, and other submissions.
- Proven experience in business generation and client acquisition is essential, along with strong analytical skills to interpret legal provisions of relevant laws.
