Associate Director - Higher Education - Engineering University (10-30 yrs)

They are looking for a Associate Director-Higher Education for their new campus to develop stragies to develop their institute to world educational destination.

Associate Director- Higher Education:

The Associate Director Higher Education, is a full time on-campus role who heads the department of Higher Education for the University, comprising of 3 schools offering 30 degree programs with over 1200 student intake every year.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Implement the Vision & Mission of the institution and accordingly plan, develop & implement a student higher education plan for all the programs offered in the University.

- Prepare a Higher education strategy for the different schools under the University. The strategy should also define the targets (collective and department wise) for the number of students opting for higher education.

- Carry out market research and surveys on higher education programs/courses and that are offered in India and overseas. Look for and gather on-going trends on Higher education statistics so to maintain working knowledge of academic pre-requisite for various entrance exam pertaining to higher education.

- Discuss with all the key stakeholders in the University and prepare a list of annual initiatives and targets for the institution (collective and department wise) related to development of higher education and work towards fulfillment of the targets.

- Identify students interested in pursuing higher education and research and bifurcate them according to the choice of program/domain/interest and provide personalized guidance.

- Plan and design a complete guide/booklet on higher education for students across 3 schools which includes (but not limited to) various higher education and Research Opportunities available post under graduation in India and overseas.

- Provide leadership, management and support for the recruitment efforts of the Office of higher education and develop a competent and effective staff by hiring and supervising personnel.

- Chair higher education committee and coordinate effectively with academic and administrative units across the university to achieve the enrolment goals.

- Work closely with Corporate Relations and Career Services department in organizing guest lectures, interactive sessions between students and corporate speakers to understand the emerging trends of higher education and its relevance in industry.

- Work closely with International Relations department in identifying reputed institutes for pursuing higher education. To liaise with partner universities in different countries to identify and build opportunities for higher education.

- Implement system for addressing queries of students related to Higher education such as admissions process, withdrawal, approval of overseas study, various entrance examinations, cost of living, scholarship opportunities etc.

- Prepare aspiring students for the higher education entrance exam by conducting coaching classes and conducting regular mock test. The results of the mock test to be analyzed and shared with the students to provide constant feedback. If required, External agency can be hired to conduct coaching classes and mock test.

- Prepare and maintain records and statistics regarding enrolment, geographical distribution of students, and financial aid across various institution in India and overseas offering higher education program.

- Design strategies for outreach programs which includes visits to coaching centers, visit to education fairs, faculty interactions through info sessions, etc. to attain working knowledge on various opportunities presiding in the market for preparation of higher education entrance exam. Also review the implementation of the outreach programs and carry out analysis on the success of these.

- Tie up with third party institutions such as colleges, coaching classes, etc. which can be helpful in conducting seminars, workshops and educational fairs.

- Prepare an annual budget for the higher education department which includes detailed expenditures for manpower, outreach programs, etc.

- Collect feedback about the higher education admission process and entrance exam from those who applied, who were selected, and who withdrew their application after selection or dropped out in a few days. Analyze the feedback collected from students to understand the various issues and challenges in applying for Higher education in India and Overseas to provide effective guidance for the aspiring students.

Desired Candidate Profile:


- Recognised postgraduate qualification and other academic qualifications from recognized institutions

- Minimum of 10 years experience in academic/ non-academic role in an educational institution (Top 10 Educational Institutions in the country would be preferred) and at least 5 years of relevant experience

- Sound knowledge of Higher education Opportunities, Institutes and Entrance examinations in India and Overseas across all domains of engineering, management, science and liberal arts.

- Age below 45 years
