Associate Director - Government & Multilateral Partnerships


Overview:


- The organisation is a philanthropic mission that exists to improve the ease of living for citizens. Our focus areas are urban, health, sanitation and public finance management. Our mission is to make sure that everyone can access services from their local governments with ease and transparency.

- They do this through our core offering DIGIT (Digital Infrastructure for Governance, Impact and Transformation), which is a digital public good. In other words, it is an open, interoperable free-to-use platform that offers solutions for citizens, first mile employees, administrators, commercial players and policy makers.

About the Role: This is a change agent role- part thinker, part leader and part doer, with the responsibility of getting government actors -governments and multilateral- to become partners in scaling and sustaining missions by creating an enabling policy environment and commitment of public funds.

1. Building the government strategy and operating model. This will involve:

- Interlocking the needs of Gov partners with mission and strategy

- Identifying where the decisive energy of the Government ecosystem lies and connecting the dots

- Evangelizing the impact opportunities through Digital Public goods

- Creating the governance and legal frameworks to ensure that there is a positive impact on citizens

- Get participation from Government actors in platform governance

2. Build and evangelize a compelling narrative for the ecosystem:

- Triangulating the mission, ecosystem needs and policy environments to build a core narrative and multiple flavors

- Evangelize the organisation way - our theory of change to the Government actors

- Ensure the organisation has a voice on the right tables to influence policy and decision making

- Participate in forums, committees

- Become a trusted advisor to bureaucrats and decisions makers

3. Build high trust relationships and run an efficient machine to manage them :

- Ensuring regular engagement with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Finance and NITI Aayog.

- Map Sr. Stakeholders at each of the above organizations and maintain relevant cadence and notes on key discussions and agreements to provide briefing and updates to Sr. Leadership.

- Identify opportunities to fast track the organisation impact missions through alignment with existing and new Government Policies, Programs and Missions

- Establish a regular cadence for the Leadership with the leadership of relevant ministries and support monthly/quarterly meetings with briefing notes and regular follow up on agreements with relevant officers of the ministry.

- Provide policy and relationship support to the National Urban Digital Mission to ensure that the views are incorporated into Mission implementation efforts

Required Skills and Competencies:

- An advanced university degree (Master's Level or higher) in one of the following disciplines - law, political science, international relations, economics, public policy or management from a tier 1 school.

- Deep understanding of government procedures and protocols

- Strong Written Skills with a competency for long-form writing

- Strong diplomacy and negotiation skills

- Robust understanding of how governments in India are structured across national, sub-national and local.
