Associate Director - Commercial Learning Services


Position Description :

- The purpose of the Associate Director - Commercial Learning Services (CLS) role is to provide leadership related to people management, technology management, strategy development and execution to team members within Content Development Center of Excellence.

- The Commercial Learning Services team consists of a dedicated group of learning professionals responsible for sustaining and advancing business capabilities in the Customer Office. This team partners with Indy-based learning professionals and business partners to design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning content. This position will lead the CLS India L&D team and report to the Senior Director of Commercial Services with dotted line reporting to the Associate Vice President, CLS Learning and Development.

Key Objectives/Deliverables :

- Learning Strategy & Operational Excellence

- Partner with Commercial Learning Services leaders to benchmark and shape the future direction of the department.

- Identify and prioritize performance improvement initiatives.

- Remove barriers to successful learning strategy development and execution across the breadth of the Customer Office.

- Partner with Associate Vice President, Commercial Learning Services to provide seamless transition of work across our network.

- Establish and monitor quality metrics and measures and implement mitigation plans when needed.

- Partner with operations team to ensure capacity management is optimized.

Leadership/Supervision :

- Leads CLS India team including team/group leads, content developers, multi-media specialists, editors, and medical writers.

- Responsible for team performance, evaluations, management (e.g., disciplinary), related training & development and team engagement.

- Embraces culture, organizational structure, roles, and practices, including strong knowledge of how team fits into bigger picture of organization.

- Knows and reinforces Commercial Learning Services learning strategy, design and development processes, content development tools and resources.

- Ensures that team delivers on expectations (on time, high quality, business value, risk mitigation, cost optimization and return on investment).

- Partners to ensure capacity and workload management are optimized leading to meeting business demands.

- Responsible for ensuring on-going development of all team members by enhancing capabilities through effective recruiting, training, coaching and development.

- Effectively manages learning professional's careers.

- Demonstrates knowledge of systems, software, tools, and supervisor resources.

- Exhibits knowledge of healthcare environment and regulated industry practices.

- Drive and support evaluation of innovative technologies, techniques, and tools.

- Partners with Commercial Learning Services leadership team to evolve organization and services.

Ensures quality, speed, value, and compliance throughout the content development process by ensuring that the team:

- Follow basic project management principles when leading projects.

- Identifies improvement opportunities and remove barriers.

- Manages a capacity and resourcing plan.

- Leverages workforce planning tools to manage and optimize capacity.

- Implements initiatives for continuous improvement and ideas for positive disruption.

- Champions and is held accountable for following policies and procedures.

- Demonstrates ability to partner effectively across functions by cultivating a strong network of cross-functional colleagues.

- Demonstrates the ability to network and learn from peer L&D (Learning & Development) organizations (regionally and globally).

- Facilitates shared learning forums to identify challenges and establish best practices across the team.

Coach, manage and develop a team of creative problem solvers. This includes but is not limited to Able to coach a coach :

- Identify, recruit, and select top talent.

- Coaches and develops team learning and development competence.

- Embraces and champions change and innovation.

- Demonstrates ability to appropriately escalate when issues arise.

- Uses Situational Leadership adapting leadership style for each individual.

- Monitors employee engagement and team health.

- Manages new-hire onboarding process.

- Utilizes Workday process to operationalize organizational goals for team members.

- Utilizes Coaching Framework.

- Partners with direct reports and to create individual development planning/action planning.

- Serves as trusted career advisor and works with HR (Human Resources) to identify career opportunities as appropriate.

- Conducts effective one-on-one coaching sessions using the coaching framework by encouraging two-way dialogue and open feedback, listening actively, being flexible, and identifying knowledge, skill, and performance gaps.

Basic Requirements:

- 14 years of overall experience with at least 8 years in supervisory role over an L&D organization.

- Knowledgeable in Instructional Design software and multimedia tools.

- Experienced coaching and developing individuals, including communicating vision, setting objectives and expectations, providing coaching and feedback, and assessing and acting based on performance.

- Demonstrated ability to be both accountable and adaptable.

- Possess a positive and energetic attitude, with a view to moving the business forward

- Proven ability to be proactive daily.

- Effective communication and change management skills to enable successful delivery in a dynamic environment.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, challenge, and influence across executives and all other levels.

- Good focus on detail, accuracy, and ability to solve problems through analytical reasoning.

- Strong learning agility and ability to prioritize.

- Demonstrated focus on innovation and building next-gen capabilities.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and any applicable laws and regulations.

- Ability to operate effectively in an international matrix environment, with ability to work across time zones.
