Job Description :

Commercial Analytics - Associate Director

- The Commercial Analytics team was started in 2017 with the objective of using innovative data mining and analytics to support business decisions to Marketing functions in the US and ex-US affiliates (focused on in-line and pre-launch brands).


- As of Aug 2022, this team currently comprises ~100 analysts with a wide range of backgrounds and skills in data management, analytical techniques, pharmaceutical commercial operations, and consultative problem solving.

- With varying degrees of independence in operations. The commercial analytics team has ~25 analysts already working in small teams to support Japan, China and IBU central marketing functions, with the volume and complexity of work, as well as the maturity of the working model expected to grow in 2023 and beyond

- To drive the continued growth of this cluster of teams, the leadership team is looking for an Associate Director of IBU Commercial Analytics, reporting to the Director, Commercial Services.


- The right candidate will oversee delivery and build a strong process- and quality-focused culture in the teams while building strategic relationships with stakeholders across the IBU affiliates.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Growth and Thought Leadership :

- Create a future vision for IBU services entwined with vision of to add more value

- Integrate working model for affiliates across commercial services like market research, commercial analytics and sales operations to drive consolidated insight generation, cross-pollination of best practices and expansion

- Work collaboratively with the Advanced Analytics and Data Sciences organization within to pull through innovations and best practices to team through affiliates (and directly where needed)

- Network with industry experts and external consultants as needed to develop, test and implement new approaches and solutions for affiliates as well as central IBU capabilities

Project Management and People Leadership:

- Deliver and implement a standardized framework for communication, project management and execution across affiliates

- Build, deliver and own a quality management framework to increase deliverable quality across affiliates with a range of tolerances and maturity in working with offshore centers

- For select large-scale and/or experimental projects, serve as trusted advisor for both and affiliate teams by enabling the team to design and deliver analytics, and communicate with stakeholders to present the final outputs and provide recommendations as needed

- Create and implement upskilling plans for team members within the affiliate team and/or across the cluster of teams

- Serve as trusted career advisor, and work with Functional Leadership and HR to identify career opportunities for the team members

Requirements :

- Masters/Bachelor's degree from a premium institute

- 10+ years of progressively increasing experience in analytics/market research/business intelligence/reporting / forecasting supporting Commercial ops internally or in consulting; at least 4+ of these in leading teams

- Previous experience with OUS regions is a must (esp. working with business partners located in non-English speaking countries like Japan, China etc.); in-depth knowledge of pharma/healthcare commercial models/data in these geographies is a must

- Demonstrated experience building/leading new team(s)

- Demonstrated experience influencing multiple stakeholders in a global complex organization and in times of change

- Demonstrated experience in deliverable quality assurance and improvement, certifications preferred (CMMI level 5 etc.)

- Advanced MS-Office skills, with some data management and visualization tools a plus (SAS/SQL/Tableau etc.)
