We have been retained by our client, a well established, professionally managed asset management company to identify a Assistant Vice President- Taxation. The position will be based at Mumbai.   JOB PURPOSE:  - To effectively manage the Taxation Function (direct tax and indirect tax) of the company with a view to minimizing tax risks and consequent P&L impact.  - To associate with the timely and accurate review and preparation of tax reporting, tax returns, tax compliance.  - To identify tax and accounting issues related to changes in industry standards and new guidelines.   - To perform tax research and making independent judgments as to application of stated tax policy.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  - To provide advisory support & guidance to business, other functions on tax matters.  - Preparing data for Goods and service tax return, TDS returns and Income Tax returns.  - Handling Income Tax Scrutinizing proceedings which involves providing data as required by the Income Tax authorities.  - Responsible for Timely and accurately calculation and payment of statutory payouts.  - To review and file various statutory returns on timely basis.  - Ensure compliance with statutory laws and regulations.  - To spearhead Project relating to statutory laws implementation.  - To handle taxation queries raised by various organizations.  - To be responsible for accounting and payment of service tax/Good and Service Tax, Advance tax and TDS payments.  - To Handle and manage monthly concurrent tax audits.  - To attend the assessment proceedings before the tax authorities and provide requisite information/clarifications on the company's case  - Assist in preparation of branch costing / profitability, RBI reporting, generation of various MIS reports, fixed assets accounting etc-   - Liaise with Statutory and Internal Auditors.-   DESIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:  - In-depth understanding of Service Tax/GST and income tax laws is must  - Good Technical skills and thorough knowledge of tax matters.  - Good networking  - Daily updation of knowledge / tax laws both local and international  - People Management  - Coaching & Training Skills  - Strong Communication skills both written and oral  - Business Management / Financial Management  - Performance Management  - Resource Management  - Cultural and Change Management  - Planning  - PC Skills  - Decision - making skills  - High enthusiasm & willingness to learn  CANDIDATES PROFILE:   Ideal Candidates should be Chartered Accountants with approximately 8 - 10 years relevant experience in Mutual Fund Industry or the BFSI sector.
