Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Taxation (M&A) to lead the tax function with a strong focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The role will be responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies to optimize business transactions, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws, and providing tax advisory support for M&A activities, corporate structuring, and business expansion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and risk management for M&A transactions.
- Conduct tax due diligence for potential acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, and divestitures.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient structures for M&A transactions while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Evaluate and mitigate tax risks associated with transactions and restructuring activities.
- Provide guidance on tax implications of post-merger integrations and corporate reorganizations.
- Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and policies at domestic and international levels and assess their impact on business transactions.
- Liaise with external advisors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies for tax rulings, approvals, and audits.
- Collaborate with internal finance, legal, and business teams to ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax regulations.
- Support transfer pricing planning and documentation for cross-border transactions.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including auditors, consultants, and tax authorities.
- Lead a team of tax professionals, providing mentorship and strategic direction.
Key Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, LLB, or equivalent qualification in Taxation, Finance, or Law.
- Minimum 15 -18years of experience in corporate taxation, with significant exposure to M&A transactions.
- Expertise in domestic and international tax laws, regulations, and cross-border taxation.
- Strong understanding of tax structuring, due diligence, and risk management in M&A.
- Experience in handling tax audits, litigation, and negotiations with tax authorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a FMCG/ Consumer Durable/ Manufacturing multinational corporation with M&A exposure.
- Knowledge of transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and international tax treaties.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and tax impact analysis.
