Economic Advisory - Energy Modelling As part of our EY-Valuations team, you will help clients understand the value of their business, securities, intellectual property, capital equipment, intangibles and other assets. The group is comprised of several key areas, including business valuation, business modelling, capital equipment, complex securities and Economic Advisory. The opportunity: We are looking for Assistant Manager with expertise in energy modelling to join EY-VME (Valuation, Modelling and Economics). Your key responsibilities: - Work on multiple engagements involving energy modelling, energy market modelling, econometric modelling/analysis, and research. Taking a prominent role in understanding clients' needs, conducting studies, reporting results, identify issues, and propose strategies related to the procedures executed. - Applying comprehensive modelling tools and software to deliver forecasting services relating to electricity and supporting essential system services (ESS), market prices, marginal loss factors (MLF), and network curtailment risk for numerous existing and prospective new entrant power stations. - Assessing technical options and impacts of new transmission network investments. - Analysing the economic and financial benefits of implementing large transmission network augmentation/upgrades. - Providing detailed assessments of storage technologies investigating their respective business cases, impact on network operation and impact on frequency control ancillary services (FCAS)/ESS markets. - Enhancing the clients understanding of residential electricity price trends through knowledge sharing. - Investigating the impacts on the electricity market by changing market rules or government policy. - Assisting relevant clients make informed decisions on energy asset acquisitions/disposals based on the electricity market behaviour, regional electricity prices, capacity mix, and other relevant factors. - Providing electricity market analysis to support business decisions. - Use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided. - Maintain and develop positive, productive, and professional relationships with EY offices globally. - Direct the progress of engagement work, inform supervisors of the engagement status, and manage staff performance. - Continually acquire and develop knowledge for own and team's learning. Use technology to learn, share knowledge with team members and enhance service delivery. - Stay abreast of current business and economic developments relevant to our as well as client's business. Qualifications, skills, and attributes for success - Post graduate degree in discipline such as electrical/mechanical/energy engineering with specialization in energy/power systems. - Close to 3-4 years of work experience in P&U domain with involvement in energy modelling, energy market modelling, solar & wind farms capacity and yield calculation, marginal loss calculation, congestion estimations, etc. - A strong understanding of the power systems, energy sector, and electricity markets. - Exposure to demand and supply forecasting and price forecasting, pricing controls, tariff regulations in P&U domain. - A base knowledge and experience in the electricity markets including the structure, key value drivers and rules relevant to the ongoing investment in and operation of the electricity markets. - High numeracy levels with demonstrated experience in manipulating, querying, investigating, and finding meaning in large data sets efficiently, with the ability to deal with ambiguities within data. - Proficiency with application of mathematical software, optimization techniques, and programming languages including Excel, Microsoft VBA, SQL, and R/Python. - Data gathering, formatting, and to employ best practice in applying data visualisation tools such as Power BI to extract the intel for the business. - Experience of business strategy, business planning, costing, and pricing. - Experience of applying economic theory to the development and evaluation of public and regulatory policy. - The ability to work within a given budget and schedule, providing top-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Strong communication skills with the ability to successfully collaborate and convey meaningful insights to clients and colleagues. - Willingness and ability to travel, when necessary.
