Assistant General Manager



We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Taxation Assistant General Manager to lead the taxation function for a leading real estate developer in Mumbai. The ideal candidate is a Chartered Accountant (CA) with a proven track record of 5-10 years in taxation, specifically within the real estate industry. This role demands comprehensive expertise in both direct and indirect taxation, along with a strong focus on tax planning, compliance, and dispute resolution.



Key Responsibilities:



- Overall Tax Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of direct and indirect taxation for the company, ensuring full compliance with current tax laws and regulations.



- Direct & Indirect Tax Expertise: Take ownership of GST, TDS, and other relevant direct and indirect tax compliances, including timely filing of returns and accurate tax calculations.



- Tax Assessments & Litigation: Proactively manage tax notices, assessments, and appeals. Represent the company effectively before tax authorities in various forums and manage tax litigation processes.



- Tax Planning & Strategy: Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies, including restructuring initiatives, aimed at minimizing tax risks while optimizing the company's tax efficiencies.



- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation, regulations, and judicial pronouncements relevant to the real estate sector, ensuring the company's continuous compliance.



- Advisory & Support: Provide expert tax advice and support to various internal departments (e.g., finance, legal, project management) on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.



- Dispute Resolution: Lead and manage all tax disputes, appeals, and representations, developing robust arguments and strategies for favorable outcomes.



- Audit & Reporting: Coordinate with internal and external auditors for tax-related matters and ensure accurate tax reporting.



Qualifications:



- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.



- Minimum of 5-10 years of post-qualification experience in taxation, specifically within the real estate industry is a MUST.



- Extensive experience managing direct and indirect taxes, including GST and TDS.



- Proven expertise in handling tax notices, assessments, appeals, and tax litigation.



- Demonstrated ability in tax planning, restructuring, and compliance, with a focus on minimizing tax risks and optimizing tax efficiencies.



- Strong experience in managing tax disputes, appeals, and representation before tax authorities.



- Up-to-date knowledge of Indian tax laws and regulations, particularly those applicable to the real estate sector.



- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.



- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax matters clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
