Role Description

Job Purpose

Understand the training needs of a function and design training programs to deliver the required business outcomes. The role would be responsible to bring in training related expertise when developing the different learning objects in each program

Primary Responsibilities

Business Responsibility Areas

(Please detail out at least 8-10 responsibility areas)

Training Need Analysis & Defining Objectives

- Discuss with the concerned function to derive the training needs and related business outcomes

- Listen and record the observations on the field through market visits to ensure it aligns with the sponsors requirements

- Identify the key observations from the documented information and derive the critical insights which will define the need for the training

- Assist the function in firming up the 6D Framework for the program

- Creating along with the function the metrics to measure the effective implementation of the learnings on the job

Curriculum and Content Design

- Design learning methodologies basis the requirement of a program and the profile of participants

- Designing curricula based learning for programs which require multiple interventions over a period of time to meet the required outcomes

- Content aggregation or creation for web based learning programs

- Working with external service providers, and aligning them to the internal standard operating procedures

- Use of innovative technology and tools for various training interventions.

- Exploring external agencies for customized content creation and off the shelf content or leveraging their design expertise for packaging workshop collaterals/participant manuals

Workshop Delivery and administration

- Scheduling dates for programs and directing the Admin Officer for sending workshop and pre work related communication and following up with them, arrangements with respect to venue, stay and travel

- Delivering training programs for specific instances

- Training the line managers and senior managers to deliver their function specific programs.

- Designing trainer material like faculty guide and session plans all programs

Driving Learning Transfer & On-the-Job Support Tools:

- Assist the function in devising ways to drive learning transfer by way of team contest, certification levels, peer learning, etc

- Creating/assisting the function at performance support in the form of checklists, cue cards, pop ups, etc

- Creating the on-the-job support tools and effectiveness measures along with the relevant function to ensure learning retention

- Creating and deploying classroom refreshers, e-learning modules

Managing the LMS

- Deploying content on LMS, tracking usage and reporting participation and progress

- Co-ordination with L&D and IT for LMS administration and problem solving

Vendor Management

- Identifying and nurturing external service providers to work with us in different areas of training program development

- Working with external service providers, and aligning them to the internal standard operating procedures

Creating a cutting edge Training Eco-system:

Investing time in connecting to the industry outside, staying up to date with the cutting edge methodologies and best practices, sharing the key takeaways with the rest of the team

Scope of Work

a) Financial Scope (Range of financial spend):- Ensuring that programs are easy to scale by employing resources on the field, thereby minimising on spend on training and involvement of central resources

- Exploring options for external content preparation both customised and off the shelf and delivery by external trainer

b) People Management Scope (Range of no. of Direct/ Indirect Reports):- Ensuring adequate support to the admin officer for collateral delivery of any workshop

- Direct/ Indirect Reports: One or more of the following roles as applicable- Technical Officer/ Dedicated Training Resource

c) Geography Coverage (Country-wide/ State-wide / Area-wide)- Countrywide

d) Corporate Coverage (Company-wide / Business Unit or Function-wide / Sub-function-wide / Other):- Function Wide (Sales & Marketing)

Key Interactions

Internal- All functions for who Field Readiness would be the key training providers like the Retail function, Project Sales, Marketing, Sales Commercial etc

Role Requirements / Specifications

Qualifications - Content manager:


- Certification/Diploma in Training Development

- Certified in Instructional Design


- Certified as Trainer by an acclaimed institution like ASTD

Customer Facing Manager


- MBA from any of the premiere B Schools


- Certification/Diploma in Training Development

Previous Experience


- 3-4 years Experience in Field Training


- Experience in managing an LMS
