Job Title : Safety Executive Department : Safety Reporting to : General Works Manager Grade : EE Jobs Reporting Into : Officer-Safety, Sr.Officer-Safety Location/Unit : APL Manufacturing Units Role Description Job Purpose To Implement Safety Management System and to advise and assist Factory Management in the fulfilment of its obligations,statutory or otherwise concerning prevention of personal injuries and maintaining a safe working environment. Primary Responsibilities: Business Responsibility Areas: Key Performance Indicators : - Ensure implementation of Safety Management system in plant. Coordinate, advise and conduct detailed safety studies of all jobs/activities in the plant.&nbsp; - Coordinate Safety committee meetings. - Check and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken or proposed to is taken to prevent Accident/incident Incorporate work permits / LOTO, wherever required, and monitor compliance against the same. - Advise the purchase and stores department in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protective equipment. - Advise and carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by the workers and to render advice on measures to is adopted for removing unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers - Prepare safety audit, safety inspection and safety training calendar schedule. Design and conduct suitable safety trainings and educational programmes for prevention of personal injuries and accidents. - Zero Reportable Accident,Dangerous Occurrence and Notifiable disease case. 100%statutory compliances with respect to Safety and health requirements. Zero noncompliances in Safety audit/self assessment of SMS. - 100% compliance to Safety inspections calendar and 100% timely closure of unsafe conditions. Ã˜ 100%safety studies of all jobs/activities in the plant. Ensure minimum one mandays training on safety to each APL employee and contract workmen. To promote employee participation in safety, conduct employee involvements programmes with respect to safety. - Facilitate accident, dangerous occurrence and industrial diseases investigation and to suggest remedial measures to the management. Advise and maintain all records as are necessary relating to accidents, dangerous occurrences and industrial diseases. - Advise and prepare Safety Improvement Plans for the year. - Render matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents and diseases to inspectorate of factories. - Organize in association with the concerned departments campaigns, competitions, contests and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedures - Actively participate in the activities carried out regarding the safety in the concerned industrial area. Liaison with statutory authorities with respect compliance to Health and Safety requirements. - Ensure MSDS availability of all chemical used in the plant and to disseminate information to all employees. Update all safety documents as per statutory requirements, or otherwise Ensure fire fighting equipments of the plant are in working condition always. Scope of Work a) Financial Scope (Range of financial spend): Around 60 lakhs b) People Management Scope (Range of no. of Direct/ Indirect Reports): c) Geography Coverage (Country- wide/ State-wide / Area-wide) Across India in APL manufacturing units d) Corporate Coverage (Company-wide / Business Unit or Function-wide / Sub-function- wide / Other): Supply Chain Function Key Interactions - Internal All APL employees and Contract workmen at the Plant.Manager/Executive-Safety of other plants , SCRC - External Statutory Authorities, Consultants, Vendors and Contractors,Safety personnel of neighbouring industries Qualifications: - Essential BSc./M.Sc./BE/BTech. Diploma in Industrial Safety /ME-Safety -recognised by Respective State Factories Rules. Minimum 50% marks throughout the education with first attempt - Desired Diploma in Fire Safety from recognised Institute/University Safety Auditor trained on Safety Management System based on British Safety Council Standards. Lead Auditor with respect to OHSAS 18001 Previous Experience: Essential: - 7-8 years in Safety Department in Manufacturing industry,preferable in chemical/petrochemical industry. - Desired Implementation of Safety management system based on British Safety Council Standards Functional Competencies : - Good knowledge of Safety studies like HAZOP,Risk Assessment,FMEA,JSA,etc. - Good knowledge of accident investigation techniques. Good knowledge on safety related statutes. Computer Knowledge (MS Office) Knowledge of local language Behavioral Competencies : - Leadership skills - Communication skills - Influencing skills - Analytical skills - Innovative Interpersonal &amp; networking skills Result oriented
