ESIA Head

- ARISE is a pan-African infrastructure and logistics solutions company developing ecosystems designed to make Africa thrive. It was started in 2010 and within a span of a decade, it has grown to have operations with 11 assets in five countries.

- We, at Arise, are focused on industrialization of African continent & the industrialization strategy is based on two pillars: identification and development of value chain around products that the countries export raw, thereby creating jobs; additional taxes for government; additional income for farmers etc. We do this alongside local partners and host governments to ensure that our operations have the greatest impact on the ground.

- ARISE today comprises three separate companies, namely ARISE Ports & Logistics (P&L), ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (IIP), and ARISE Infrastructure Services (IS). Arise has attracted large PE names; African Finance Corporation (AFC), AP Moller Capital (APMC), STOA & Meridiam Fund.

Reporting : ESG Head

- We have an exciting opportunity for an ESIA Head in India to work in a truly global environment and will be responsible of the good relations between ARISE and the various stakeholders related to the ESIA projects.

- This position will have the overall management of the environmental and social impact assessment and approval of projects as part of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) sustainability team.

Roles and Responsibilities :

- Prepare and review project technical reports regarding ESIA reports

- Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports for management and external regulatory agencies

- Provide metrics and evaluations of E&S statistics, grievance, incidents to evaluate trends and establish programs for improvement

- Coordinate, manage, and supervise the work of contractors engaged into ESIA process

- Implement and monitor company Environmental and Social Management System

- Keep all relevant stakeholders aware of developments on environmental and social matters and ensures sites comply with changes in legislation, codes of practice and standards

- Establish the needs in terms of meeting and communicating with the various stakeholders as defined in the Stakeholder Engagement Plan

- Manage the environmental and social impact studies entrusted to the consultants

- Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce Company environmental risks

- Develop action plans and follow-up of corrective actions to ensure respect for the environment and social components related to the IFC requirements issued as part of the impact study completed for the project

- Assess environmental monitoring needs and ensure their development and implementation (e.g., monitoring of water quality, noise levels, air, etc.)

- Develop a complaint management plan and ensure the follow-up and resolution of complaints related to the ESG aspects of the project

- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the Company, of the impact of environmental issues

Required Skills and Experience :

- Master's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or other related fields

- Minimum 8 years relevant experience in the field

- Good knowledge of international standards, including the IFC Performance Standards, and a broad understanding of all technical expertise required for ESIA and for sustainable development.

- A strong sense of responsibility and dedication to work, with the ability to work as a technical leader of a team for research

- Familiar with ESIA operation, related permit application process, with practical experience is preferred.

- Fluent in English and French

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Excellent organizational and project skills

- Flexibility to environment and people
