Role: Manager - Legal & Compliance

Role Summary:

The candidate will be a part of the Legal team of Antara Assisted Care Services Limited (A Max Group Company), working closely with internal business teams operating in the Indian market. The candidate will be responsible for providing support in commercial/transactional matters, dispute resolution (pre-litigation & litigation matters), managing compliance, and working independently on assigned projects in collaboration with other team members.

Key responsibilities:

The candidate is expected to draft, review, redline, negotiate, and close various contracts and other transactional documents, as well as to conduct general commercial and legal research, and draft commercial documents and critical correspondence, in Healthcare, Real Estate, Information Technology, Advertising and other related domains in compliance with relevant and applicable laws, rules & regulations. This will initially be an individual contributor role.

The candidate's Job responsibilities will include:

Contract Management:

i. Vetting, drafting, negotiating, and finalizing several commercial agreements related to Healthcare, Real Estate, Information Technology, Marketing & Advertising, etc., in close coordination with respective departments.

Litigation Management:

i. Coordinating with external counsels, keeping a track of the progress of all the litigations, drafting, and vetting various petitions, pleadings, writs, affidavits, counter affidavits, appeals, miscellaneous applications, affidavits, civil or criminal complaints, and notices.

ii. Maintaining MIS, preparing, highlighting, and updating higher management of the Company regarding the status of the litigation.

iii. Manage litigations, pre-litigation, recovery matters, claims, and disputes in matters relating to customers, vendors/ service providers, employees/labour, and other stakeholders filed by or against the Company and/or its officials.

Approvals and Licenses:

To prepare documentation for filing applications/renewals of various licenses and approvals from different Government departments/authorities for new facilities/centers. Liaising and coordinating with concerned departments/authorities, replying to queries, and ensuring timely renewal of approvals/licenses.

Compliance Monitoring:

Maintaining compliance tracker, coordination, and follow-up with all facilities/centers for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Legal Research:

i. Advising on day-to-day legal queries raised by internal departments, coordinating with external lawyers to seek opinions on complex legal matters.

ii. Research, analyze, and identify applicable laws and amendments therein, having legal risks and implications, which may potentially affect the Company's business and prospects, and prepare memos or position statements to keep the senior management of all business verticals informed of such laws and amendments/developments.

Note: The position may require frequent travel to various facilities/centers/ offices/government departments situated at different locations in India to manage litigations, file applications for licenses & approvals, and liaise & coordinate with concerned departments/authorities as a representative of the Company.

The candidate must:

- Be a law graduate i.e. LL.B. (LL.M. is a plus) from a recognized University in India.

- Have 6-8 years of total post-qualification experience in the Health Care, Real Estate, and Fin-tech Services domain.

- Be working in a corporate legal capacity within a fast-paced, fast-evolving, and dynamic environment.

- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of all Commercial Laws and regulatory frameworks around the Healthcare and Real Estate/E-Commerce/ Information Technology/Internet industry, such as Healthcare laws, Contract Act, Companies Act, IPR Laws, Information Technology Laws, Data Protection laws, GDPR, Stamp and Registration Acts
