Analyst/Senior Analyst - Credit Ratings - Public Finance

Position: Public Finance Credit Ratings Analyst/ Sr Analyst (3-6 yrs) (Chennai)

Role :

- Conduct detailed analytical research on Public Finance debt issuers and be responsible for an allocated portfolio. Manage and handle macro database and macro research

- Publish timely, topical and high quality research on Public Finance/ Public Sector Enterprises contributing to the increasing profile of the agency within the debt capital markets

- Conduct analytical reviews of issuers and make presentations to rating committees

- Taking responsibility for allocated portfolio, ensuring timely reviews/rating actions as required.

- Analyse macro-economic data both high frequency and annual and do thematic research on macroeconomic data

- Ensure timely reviews/rating actions. Take responsibility for end-to-end completion of the rating process

- Communicate with various market constituents, including investors, issuers, bankers, regulators and members of the media, regarding the agency's rating rationales, analytical views and general market trends, to support India Ratings' brand building efforts

- Interaction with policy makers

Requirements :

- Post graduate management/economics degree from a premier institute

- 3-6 yrs of experience in credit analysis and macro economic research is highly desirable. Background of economics and understanding of finances of state governments/ public sector enterprises is desirable but not necessary.

- Experience in credit analysis of entities in the public finance space such as state-owned enterprises, local bodies, municipal corporations and state sponsored Special Purpose Vehicles is desirable.

- Experience in evaluating mid corporate companies is also desirable

- Strong financial analytical skills, including forecasting techniques, and an ability to identify key drivers of credit profile of states and urban local bodies

- Balance Sheet Analysis

- Undertake peer group/sectoral analysis and comparison; identify the key financial and operational parameters/drivers of credit profile for any given credit/case

- Excellent communication and presentation skills to connect at senior management level

- Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PPT

- Must be a strong team player and possess excellent inter-personal skills, with an ability to integrate quickly into an established team and to deal with colleagues and external parties across the region

- Prior work experience in banks/ credit rating agencies is required

- Proficiency in Tamil is desirable but not necessary
