The initial focus for the team will be supporting the Knowledge and Learning transformation journey, providing best in class ML and AI capability, with enhanced search engine capability, to provide a tailored, personalized and predictive knowledge and learning experience to over 20,000 Customer Care Professionals globally. - Engineering Directors lead engineering teams, mentoring and delivery of products, cultivating continual improvement in processes service quality, and strategic planning. Roles &amp; Responsibilities : - Lead and grow the engineering team and establish a Centre of Excellence for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence capability for the enterprise. - Technology platform ownership covering ML/AI technologies using Python web environment, Machine Learning Studio, Big Data. - Establish training data pipelines to maintain algorithm models to improve prediction accuracy. - Focusing on data consumption patterns including building/enhancing capabilities to source &amp; consume data from Big Data environments via message streaming services. - Performing hands-on Machine Learning development and participating architecture / design and code reviews. - Coaching and mentoring engineering resources on data architecture. - Partnering with technical leaders across a broader American Express Technology ecosystem to design platform architecture and drive continuous improvements of new frameworks/patterns. Ensuring availability and performance of platforms. - Cultivating an environment of engineering culture. - Identifying and implementing strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce and engineering talent. - Leading software development teams and acting as an escalation point to remove impediments. - Engaging in solution design and ensuring alignment of strategy, architecture, tools/methods with software engineers and architects to execute product roadmaps. Qualifications : - Hands-on engineering experience leveraging Open Source and Machine Learning technologies for delivering large scale enterprise solutions is a must. - Hands-on experience with Python/Java, background in Data Science / NLP or Deep Learning and experience working with a big data environment is a must. - Experience working with Spark, Hadoop, Django, Solace/Kafka and developing custom data models and algorithms to data sets. - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Data Science or related field required; advanced degree preferred. - 10+ years of large-scale hands-on Software Product Engineering experience with full CICD toolchain and Agile delivery methods in a complex environment. - Proven experience attracting, hiring, retaining and leading top engineering talent and building high performing teams in a highly competitive market. - Strong systems integration architecture skills and a high degree of hands-on technical expertise, ranging across a number of technologies with a proven track record of turning new technologies into business solutions. - Experience managing in a fast paced, complex and dynamic global environment. - Outstanding influential and collaboration skills; ability to drive consensus and tangible outcomes, demonstrated by breaking down silos and fostering cross communication process.
