Function Description: Operational Risk Management is a comprehensive and integrated program. The Operational Excellence team is a key partner to Global Services Group and provides thought leadership to identify, measure, assess, report, monitor and control operational risk exposures facing American Express. A collaborative partnership between a centralized Operational Risk Governance Group (ORGG), subject matter experts (SMEs), Business Unit partners, and the Operational Excellence teams enables efficient and effective operational risk controls supported by the company's operational risk framework. This framework consists of several core components including risk assessment, business and environmental internal control factors and reporting & monitoring. Purpose of the Role: The Manager, Operational Excellence Relationship Management reports to the Director, GSG Operational Excellence - Relationship Management. The Manager's main responsibilities are to manage business partner relationships, drive the oversight and governance of the company's operational risk framework across GSG and provide Operational Risk Management expertise. Responsibilities: The Analyst, Operational Excellence Relationship Management reports to the Manager, GSG Operational Excellence - Relationship Management. The Analyst's main responsibilities are to support the company's operational risk framework across GSG and provide Operational Risk Management expertise. Under the guidance of the Manager, GSG Operational Excellence - Relationship Management, the key responsibilities of this role are to: Guide business partners to: - Build understanding of inherent Risk &amp; Control Frame work of all the processes and identify risk areas and apprising the management. - Perform process risk assessment and end to end process management for all the processes in the relationship area which covers creation of new processes and carrying out a refresh of the existing processes.&nbsp; - Ensure periodic risk assessment questionnaire (RAQ) refresh in accordance with ORGG guidelines and strengthening operational risk compliance, governance and control for the 10 operational risk pillars.&nbsp; - Engage in the conduct of risk assessments using the company's standard methodologies; mitigate identified control weaknesses through the creation of appropriate action plans.&nbsp; - Ensure governance by monitoring quarterly certification and control testing. Ensure process activity is efficient, effective, and aligned with AXP and the BU- s risk tolerance.&nbsp; - Able to challenge the status quo and provide recommendations to the business partners on the current control framework.&nbsp; - Good knowledge of the PRSA guidelines and act as subject matter expertise in operational risk management framework, including control rating metrics&nbsp; - Support the project lead in execution of the OE projects&nbsp; - Support socialization of new service continuity framework/ tool (Archer) and linkages between business impact analysis (BIA), business continuity plans (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR) resulting in effective service continuity.&nbsp; - Engage and guide BU to create action plans (include specific evidence requirements) in Archer.&nbsp; - Support the effectiveness of business area risk management programs through strong engagement &amp; deep relationship with Business Partners&nbsp; - Supporting the relationship manager in change management governance by outlining principles for the proactive and reactive risk management approach for changes across people, process and technology. Minimum Qualifications Academic Background: - MBA/CA/CPA or equivalent will be an added advantage Past Experience: &nbsp; - Experience in Control &amp; Compliance, Audit, Projects, Process mapping, Any branch of Risk. Basic understanding of Archer and American express management policies.
