Amazon is a global organization at the forefront of the digital economy and offers a great opportunity for a dynamic and experienced indirect tax individual to manage the Amazon's India GST compliance function. The Senior Manager will oversee the indirect tax compliance function for specific business lines, work with internal and external business partners, identify and implement process improvement opportunities and drive positive change across the organization. Primary duties include: - Oversee the end-to-end tax compliance processes in relation to indirect taxes - Develop, document and ensure adequate GST controls are implemented - Coordinate and manage the use of outside advisors to support accurate and timely submission of indirect tax returns and related accessory obligations - Develop, implement and streamline tax compliance processes - Work with tax technology and IT teams to identify automated solutions to the compliance process and support implementation - Review GST returns (analysis of data, and liaison with AP and AR teams) - Assist with indirect tax related audit and controversy matters - Assist with evaluating the tax effect and implications of international business initiatives, contemplated transactions, and business proposals - Drive and implement changes required to indirect tax compliance processes as a result of changes to indirect tax legislation - Lead various projects impacting the future strategy of the indirect tax compliance function - Identify cash flow and tax benefits related to indirect taxes for various business units Basic qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration - 10+ years of progressive tax experience with exposure to international transactional taxes in a Big 4 public accounting firm, major law firm, and/or a multinational corporation - Experience and knowledge of international indirect taxes - Experience managing a transactional tax compliance function Preferred qualifications - Experience managing other employees and ability to lead international tax compliance team through hiring and development - Advanced data analytics skills (including proficiency in Excel) - Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interface with senior management - Experience and knowledge in accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standards - Ability to understand and work with ERP systems and tax engine systems (e.g. Vertex / Sabrix) - Ability to work independently with limited general supervision, effectively prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced environment
