About the Role:

- Category Managers at Amazon have end-to-end responsibility of the customer experience and growth of the category they have been assigned to. Amazon strives to present its customers with the widest selection of products at the best prices - The Category manager's role is to bring in the relevant assortment, design targeted promotions, manage partners including sellers/brands and design the long-term growth trajectory for the portfolio.

- Category managers anticipate customer needs and incorporate them into the functional road map and will drive a major change or enhancement for customer experience influencing category needs based on their knowledge of competitive trends in the marketplace and other macro-environment data.

- The successful candidate for this high impact role will be a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving, have proven data analysis skills, demonstrate great - voice- and content creation chops (i.e. strong writing skills), show strong ownership and commitment, have proven leadership experience in managing projects, and bring relevant insights in marketing and merchandising.

Basic qualifications:

- An understanding of and passion for e-commerce.

- Work experience is preferred (4-8 years).

- Experience in Business, category management, buying, Selling or finance


- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Proven negotiation skills, influencing abilities

- Strong numerical and analytical aptitude

- Proven experience leading cross-functional projects

- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

- Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines

- Detail-oriented

- Technical aptitude and agility to learn web-based tools

- Smart, enthusiastic, hard-working, and creative.

- Innovative, team-oriented, and have a desire to participate in change and appreciate a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities.

- Experience in project ownership and using customer data to identify and prioritize opportunities. The position will be based in Amazon's office in Bangalore.

Preferred qualifications:

- Master's degree is preferred from Tier 1 MBA college

- Experience in Consumer-facing sectors such as Retail, FMCG is preferred
