Agriculture Expert (FPO, Export Development)

The organization is working with the Agriculture Department of a state in realizing the vision and mission of transforming the agricultural economy. Adopting a data-driven approach, our strategic and implementation support will broadly focus on the following key areas :

- Ensuring high quality materials and inputs for crops, horticulture, sericulture, livestock, fish and poultry

- Promoting the state's comparative advantage by designing roadmaps for promoting unique and niche crops

- Securing livelihoods through enhanced jobs and income generation by diversification of agriculture and integrated livelihood systems.

- Promoting secondary agriculture and developing the agri-value chain and marketing opportunities

Required competencies :

a. An advanced degree in agriculture, agribusiness or a related field required

b. A minimum of 5 years of experience in agriculture advisory, implementation or research

c. Prior experience in consulting and implementing Central/State Government initiatives, related to formation or strengthening of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and experience of managing at least a team of 4-5 persons for at least two years duration in each project.

Responsibilities :

a. Provide technical leadership and advisory to the Agriculture Department with a focus on the formation of FPOs and FIGs and development of marketing and export opportunities

b. Secure relevant learning from other states and across the globe on best practices around formation of FPOs and FIG and advise relevant departments in the implementation of the proposed strategies and workstreams

c. Identify and build linkages with stakeholders relevant to the FPO ecosystem

d. Identification, set-up and engage with Advisory Group comprising of eminent experts

e. Provide strategic inputs to develop the the market positioning of the specific product clusters

f. Mapping of potential markets, roadblocks and opportunities for export development

g. Provide technical expertise in the development of reports and briefs for the Agriculture Department

Location : You will be based at the client location with occasional travel to GDi headquarters in New Delhi
