Working as an integral part of the HR department, compensation and benefits managers are a vital role in any company. Looking after the employees best interests, they implement rewards and benefit policies in companies From medical insurance to pension schemes, you'll be involved in administrating them all.

Other areas that the candidate could look after include:

- Life assurance

- Salary (and bonuses)

- Profit-sharing schemes

- Arranging company cars

Advising management on any employee related issues, candidate will also be in charge of making any necessary adjustments. Think the benefits could be better- It'll be down to you to research other company's policies and make recommendations for improvements.

Not stuck in front of computers or on the phone all day, candidate will also have direct contact with the staff throughout their employment. For new staff, compensation managers explain the company's benefit packages, while exiting employees are given leaving interviews where they'll be informed of the expiration dates on their benefits and how any unused holiday pay will be handled.

You'll also be ensuring that staff throughout the different departments are treated fairly. This includes comparing all the various job titles to ensure any pay differences are justified (e.g. management is bound to earn more than the office junior).

And the job doesn't stop with existing employees, whenever a new position is created, it's the candidates job to research the typical salary and benefits for that role.

Other job duties will include:

- Monitoring salary structure and benefits at all times

- Developing competitive benefit packages

- Ensuring all packages and benefits are legal

- Negotiating with unions

- Maintaining and developing personnel record systems

- Helping to decide whether a job should be paid hourly or a set yearly salary

- Build relationships with other companies that can provide further services (food, transport etc)

- Preparing and distributing information to employees
