About the role:

This role involves managing a team with multiple products, ensuring that the teams are delivering to the time scales provided and to a high standard. Open to change and new ways of solving problems and able to get involved in estimation and troubleshooting when required. Technology focused, agnostic to tools, adaptable to change in technology.  Work with architects to strategize and implement product vision.  Mentor and guide the sprint teams on technical excellence. Read code and provide feedback.  Review and architect high level and low-level designs - In depth knowledge on the software tools - Champion for automation of repeatable tasks, Recruitment and training, Manage attrition and drive merit-based promotions.

Key Competencies / Technical Expertise:

- Strong technical background as a Software Developer in the .Net stack

- 10+ years of experience in C# .Net

- 10+ years of experience in SQL Server or other appropriate database technologies (MySQL, Aurora etc)

- Be an excellent coach and mentor with proven experience in this area.

- Excellent understanding of the latest and best engineering practices

- Software development principles, patterns, and practices, such as SOLID

- Understand/advocate - XP Techniques such as: - Pair Programming / Code Reviews / Swarming / Continuous delivery

- TDD / CI/CD / DevOps / Code Quality tools

- Be able to show initiative in solving technical challenges across teams and products.

Line Management and Leadership:

- Provide leadership, coach, mentor, develop direct reports, and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, adds value, and reduces costs.

- Manage communication between teams under leadership, to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements.

- Work with team to translate strategy into specific annual performance goals and objectives including KPIs to track.

- Monitor ongoing progress and performance. Provide timely feedback.

Performance Management

- Optimisation of performance of people, including: - Determination of capabilities, integration into teams, support, guidance, motivation, and management of performance.

- Ensure an excellent performance management framework is in place

- Provide encouragement and feedback to high performing staff to ensure they are recognised, valued, and minimise attrition.

- Solve issues with low performers, ensuring they receive the correct training and where problems persist, appropriate actions are taken.

Process and Resource Management:

- Ensure that processes are effective and efficient (be the catalyst for change) - Ensure effective design, creation, testing and documenting of new and amended software components.

- Work from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed development and security standards and processes

- Management of resources in order to: - Plan, estimate and carry out programs of solution development work to time, budget and quality targets and in accordance with appropriate standards.

- Work with other Heads and the Development Director to ensure the correct capacity is in place to meet demand.

- Help decide when to move people and when to create new teams.

- Ensure a framework is in place to effectively on-board new teams and team members.

- Work with the UK Principal Engineering team to ensure our engineers in India follow best practice at all levels.

- Collaborate and work closely with the Development Director.

- You must have an Agile mind-set and understand the benefits.

- Understand all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle

Added advantage: 

- Expertise in Scrum

- Experience of other methodologies such as Kanban / Scrum ban advantageous.

- Toolchain experience - Jira, Git, Visual Studio, Jenkins / Team City, JFrog

- Software development in a Cloud/SaaS environment preferably AWS

- Experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
