Essential Duties and Responsibilities: PURPOSE

The Accounting Manager (AM) is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting that the firm does for companies in the company group and to other clients the firm provides accounting services for. The AM has responsibility to insure that services and deliveries performed by the accounting group meet the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for each of the clients.

This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises to start with 2 and later 8-10 staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

The Accounting Manager will have contact with senior-level Attorneys and the firm's Executive Director and the client firms representatives and Controllers which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. The Clients and the company group that the firm belongs to is primarily located in Sweden and Norway and are therefore submitted to the rules and regulation in these counties. In the future other countries might be represented among the clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.

Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

Supports budget and forecasting activities.

Monitors and analyzes the Accounting group's work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Ensuring that the Accounting group performs the accepted tasks for the different clients according to the agreed SLA. These tasks can include:

Assisting internal/external auditors with queries.

Assisting with sales / purchase ledger duties, cash books

Calculation, Assessment and filling of Income tax and Sales tax returns

Raising purchase orders and chasing outstanding accounts.

Preparation of Cash Flow Statements

Processing payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements & statements.

Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

Work with the Clients representatives to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.

Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

Ensure that there are written, accurate, accepted and signed Service Level Agreement (SLA) with all the clients to the Accounting group.

Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.

Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education :CA Required

Technical Skills and Prior Experience:

Two to five years prior supervisory experience in the Balance Sheets/ financial reporting/general ledger area. Experience working in an accounting or law firm or other professional services firm is preferred.

Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting. Experience with MS Dynamic NAV or other large automated accounting system a plus. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.

Understanding of Scandinavian (Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark) GAAP(preferred) and the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.

Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
