AB InBev - Senior Manager - Agriculture Development Program (4-10 yrs)
Primary Purpose of Role-
Owner and overall lead for the Agriculture Development program for ABI in India. Along with the development and up-skilling of the team of agronomists and field officers internally, this person will also be the central point of contact with all external stakeholders - driving the quality-growth and reputation building of the program across the supply chain.
Program & team management -
- Crop Protocol a) implementation by team and b) adoption by farmers
- Co create, implement and review larger strategic special projects (as and when finalized)
- Leading the Field Agronomist in their day-to-day operations, and carrying out monthly reviews to check the monthly proceedings.
- Constantly opening up gaps and addressing them through internal expertise or necessary external collaborations
- Drive, develop and foster strong ABI culture of continuous improvement within Agro Team.
- Broadening the vision and operation of our field demonstration projects - in order to make it a centre of visual demonstration, showcasing all the best practices at one point, and a centre to calculate the Farm Income
- Planning and organizing the Field Day in India
- Overall budget management of the program
External relationship management-
- Monitoring the overall farmers relationship Management
- Managing the Mandi/Vendor Relationship to ensure Supply Security
- Driving external partnerships along with the field agronomists, partnership supervisor and research agronomist
- Making critical reports and presentations to external partners and stakeholders
- Partnership Development- Bringing new partnerships that can support and upscale the overall development of the program
- Be the driver of reputation with all external stakeholders - including working on creating external communications material
Internal relationship management-
- Ensuring integrated working with the research, B&Q, raw material & the larger procurement team
- Work in tandem with the R&D team, and to ensure that knowledge flow takes place smoothly between the two teams
- Collaborate with the legal and corporate affairs team on a continuous basis to understand legal compliance and its impact to the business - Subsequently, work with internal and external legal support for filing and managing of Agro operations in the country
- Working closely with GBR team for Data Analysis of Commercials Production
- Supporting Field Agronomist in identifying the most suitable growing regions for malt barley cultivation.
Procurement Process :
- Ensuring the smooth Procurement operations and creation of effective Pricing and Buyback Policy
- Drive a focus on Barley quality, and create the best-in-class barley growing and procurement program
- Ensure a reliable supply of high-quality raw materials through local sourcing and competitive commercial terms
Education level and/ or experience :
- Minimum MSc in Agriculture / MBA in Agro Business
- 4+ year work experience, will be preferred
- Experience of having worked in managing teams will be preferred
Skills and/or knowledge :
- Experience of working with farmers to understand major challenges in a production environment
- Familiarity with small grains production practices, with a perspective on how to improve crop productivity and work in a collaborative mode with the farmers
- Must have experience in developing, implementing, and running agro-business programs
- Understanding of working with farmer co-operatives/producer organizations will be preferred
- Developing partnerships relevant to internal needs of the program and team
- Ability to work in a team by taking everyone along and effectively managing multiple projects & initiatives
- Previous experience with research and development teams will be preferred
- Candidates with experience in managing team of agronomists and field agri officers will be preferred
- Proficiency with computers, MS office & diagnostic computer/agro software
- Experience in presenting business proposals and budget proposals
- Valid driver's license & willing to travel
- Needs to overcome socioeconomic and cultural barriers to understand the core of the issues being faced by our farmers and team on the field
