- Candidates must have a background in Agricultural Management Primary Purpose of Role: - Secure ABI's barley supply (quality and quantity) in the short and long term, focusing on reduction of risk due to climate, environment, markets and competing crops - Reduce total cost of operations for ABI and our farmers - Be the trusted advisor promoting barley development by supporting farmers across technical and commercial operations - Serve as the central point of contact for any and all interfaces with farmers. As necessary, collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure appropriate responses and communications - Be the expert of their respective region from an agronomic, economic and environmental perspective - Continuously working on improving our supply chain Areas of Responsibilities: Technical - Advise farmers on crop management and share best practices as the local - barley expert- to drive productivity, efficiency and quality - Collaborate with Research and Zone/Global Procurement Teams and other Agronomists to develop and execute farmer programs and projects that drive economic, social and environmental shared value - Collaborate with Research to develop the crop protocols specific to the barley growing region and varieties grown in that region - Collect farm-level data and provide insights and recommendations back to the farmer based on data and insights - Participate in the development of the Barley digital platform, implement digital tools with farmers and provide feedback to Global Procurement and Solutions teams to drive future development Commercial - Influence farmers to grow barley under the commercial policy set by Global Procurement - barley variety, volume and quality specifications aligned with business needs - and execute the contracts (gathering needed documentation and signatures) - The agronomist doesn- t negotiate prices with farmers or distributors/cooperatives but implement the aligned strategy - Organize and ensure barley delivery with the right quality in coordination with Supply/Vertical Operations - Identify and develop new barley production areas and new farmers in order to meet volume and quality needs as aligned with commercial needs - need to be proactive to develop our agro footprint and impact in the region - Develop the variety strategy for the region in coordination with the Zone Agro Director and ensure adequate seeds inventory to cover the needed volume Leadership - Manage a team effectively on the field - regular communication, set & communicate challenging goals and coordinate resources to achieve targets - Develop a capable team and hold the team accountable for results. Build the people pipeline by recruiting people better than ourselves as per business requirements and grow talent - Provide vision & purpose to the team - part of the global vision - We grow ABI's dream with an assured agro supply chain & lead in agriculture globally by creating shared economic, social and environmental value- - Adapt quickly to change and take ownership for implementing new actions - Work closely with external stakeholders including NGO's to strengthen our sustainability impact Education level and/ or experience - University Degree or higher (agronomy degree preferred) - Fluent in local language and proficient in English - 4 - 8 years of experience Skills and/or knowledge - Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation - Appropriate mix of technical (agronomic), sales and management skills - Self-starter who can take ownership and work independently - Curios and strong willingness to learn - Strong problem solving and analytical skills - Strong people and leadership skills - Integrity and honest - Ability to work well with teams and internal as well as external stakeholders - PC skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel & Office) - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively - Driver's license - Consistently exhibits company values in all interactions with associates and customers
