We are looking to hire an HR specialist to join us at The Aangan Trust in Mumbai. This is a full-time on-site role (Mahalaxmi)

About the Organisation:

Aangan works to build and strengthen child protection systems to ensure that the most vulnerable children are safe, supported, in school, and assured of childhoods free from trafficking, child marriage, hazardous work, violence, and exploitation. Our goal is to reach 'invisible' vulnerable children and strengthen state or community protection systems around them as well as build the child's own resilience and coping strategies.

In this position, you will help organize, coordinate and carry out a variety of necessary HR tasks. This includes all hiring, on-boarding, tracking and maintain all employee data. You will also help maintain positive culture and work across the 5 state offices to ensure worker satisfaction through education of HR policies and by fostering a positive work environment. You should be highly organized, detail-oriented and most importantly, personable and approachable.

What will you be doing -

Recruitment: Drive the full spectrum of recruiting and selection activities within the organisation, by

- Assisting with creation of Job descriptions basis the vacancies identified

- Job posting and advertisements

- Manage the hiring process including recruitment, interviews, verifying work history and references

- Communicating with potential job candidates

On-boarding and Exit Formalities:

- Help with new-recruit procedures, including organizing employee orientation, updating the current database, issuance of laptops and ensuring all necessary paperwork is properly filled out and submitted to appropriate persons.

- Executing exit formalities and issuance of final clearance for full and Final settlement

- Maintaining Employee Records:

- Maintain employee records and update as needed

- Maintaining monthly leave calendars and updating the same for salary processing

Employee Welfare:

- Facilitate communication between management/department heads and employees

- Assist management with corrective action as needed

- Assist management and department heads with conflict resolution and accidents

- Responding to HR-related queries within the company

- Performance Management and Engagement:

- Initiate monthly, half yearly and end of year feedback process

- Initiate periodic employee well-being and engagement activities


- Periodically update company policies and benefits

- Ensure compliance with labour regulations


- Obtaining quotations from vendors for purchase of assets

- Follow-ups with consultants/vendors for invoices

- Maintenance of an asset register

- Assist with formalities around office setup and closure as and when the same takes place

- Obtain and Assist with IT support as and when required

What do we need from you?

Qualifications and Experience:

- Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in an HR Operations/Recruitment/Generalist profile

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Excellent verbal communication skills

- Detail oriented and relationship-focused to foster employment culture

- Comfortable working in a highly visible role

- Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking

- Ability to handle stressful situations

- Previous experience in the development sector will be an advantage
